I heard from WolfenMachine this evening.  She says that her house and neighborhood are OK so far.

Texas is my home state, and while Houston was WAY too big for me to ever want to live there, I can’t imagine what they’re going through…  So many from New Orleans fled there after Katrina, and now to get hit again is just horrid.

Keeping Houston and all other sections of Texas, and now parts of Louisiana, etc., in my thoughts and prayers.

If anyone wants to help out folks in Texas, I know UMCOR (United Methodist Committee on Relief) is taking donations for an assistance project there.  I like donating to UMCOR because when you donate to a specific project ALL the money goes to that project and no-where else.  That’s at UMCOR.org.

Also keeping folks there in my prayers.

Jeff-Bodinetoo,has volunteered to go to Houston for a week and help out.Not much else we can do but every little bit helps. He is from Arkansas and when I moved us back to the coast he made the mistake of saying he wanted to see a “real” hurricane.Well,he did,we sat through Katrina in our mobile home and  listened to Mother Nature’s fury.He got his wish.It made an impact he never forgot so he really wanted to go help somehow.I think he will never wish for such a thing again.Lesson learned. Now his heart is really going out to our fellow Americans in trouble.I told him NEVER wish to see the inside of a tornado.

Thanks sweetie,I will tell him for you.He is a good guy.Giving up his vacation week to go.I have to stay and critter sit.My lifelong friend,Teresa, lives in Singleton, just outside College Station a few miles from Houston so he gets to stop in and check on her for me while he is there. They lost four chicken houses full because of the wind and rain. Many folks have lost so much more but it really knocked them down for a bit. They only get paid 3 times a year so losing this flock hurts.

Bodine, oh no! Did any of their chickens make it? Once they have their feet under themselves again I’m sure the chicken keeping community would help them rebuild their flock…

Their flocks are for Sanderson and will have to wait and see how they will handle things. She said 80% are dead. Many more folks in the same boat sorry to say.Electric is out everywhere, collapsing chicken buildings, water /rain drowning them,it’s bad.It will be awhile to get them all back up and running.

Stay safe everyone effected by the hurricane, flooding, and the voluteers who are giving up their time to help out others in need. It’s so nice to see there’s good and caring people left in the world, in this country. Good luck.
