For those of you that liked the work of JRR Tolkien I found that Terry Brooks had a lot of decent work that while not as captivating as Tolkien’s work was a very good read. The entire Shanarra series that last I looked is still ongoing is a wonderful follow on now that there is no more new Tolkien to read…latest published by his son excluded.

The Shannara series is good but the longer Brooks drags it out the more he tortures his characters. Which I can’t really say anything because I do the same thing to the characters in my books. But I like the series, I went through a rollercoastet of emotions with the latest book he released. I get really into the books I read. I laugh, I cry, and all that jazz.

I read the first two but I have to say they frustrated me because they had elements that were so obviously ripped off from tolkien, the mist monster, etc. Other than that the story was okay though.

I would help but I am just to tired to get out of bed today~

I started reading The Black Unicorn…but personally found it very slow…I skipped ahead a chaper or two in the beginning. Haven’t finished it yet though. The charachters sounded interesting.

One thing about Brooks is don’t read him if you like happy endings. He loves to put his characters through Hell. Sometimes things even turn out okay in one book, and then at the beginning of his next one everything turned out badly.

He’s a local writer . I never really read his books . But he lives here . No I’m not sure where his house is . Suprise , surprise he’s not in the phone book either . lol . I would have been shooked if he was . I know he lives here because he went to the local bookstore from time to time to sign some books .
