Your welcome. We really appreciate your help with our orders and I thought it would be a good idea to show you how much. 😉July 26, 2007 at 4:11 pm #598907Susie wrote:😯 Now can someone photoshop Karen’s face? That’s not how she really looks! (She warned that two pictures would be necessary to get one good one!)
haha, I am not sure how to photoshop…but I thought the expression on her face was cute. 😀

My art: featherdust.comJuly 26, 2007 at 5:24 pm #598910OMG! He’s huge! I had a MUCH smaller iguana bite me several years ago and it went nearly to the bone, iguanas are scary 😯 That one seems to be pretty relaxed though, is he a pet of hers?
July 26, 2007 at 5:31 pm #598911It’s one of the office pets! 😀
July 26, 2007 at 7:44 pm #598912That’s cool! I’m sorry I couldn’t join in, but I’ve been crazy busy here, getting ready for GenCon. I think both Susie and Karen deserve a big medal for all their hard work! That’s for sure. It’s nice to see they get gifts sometimes. Yay, Forum People! 😀

Those claws hurt! Also, if you are bitten, that hurts alot too, though I did learn from mine that whatever you do, do not pull back! Their teeth are serrated, so jerking back when bit just rips you up worse.
Mine wasn’t quite that big though, she was 3.5 feet long when I gave her to a guy who really really wanted her bad, since he had more time and inclination towards iguana care, I gave her up. He spoils her rotten.

July 27, 2007 at 2:20 pm #598916I had an iguana that got to his full 5’something” size. He was never aggressive toward me, but his limbs were so powerful and claws so strong that if he tried to climb my arms or wiggle to get down, he could slice me up. He wasn’t being mean, just moving around! You gotta respect an animal that size. 😉

My art: featherdust.comJuly 27, 2007 at 2:28 pm #598917OMG! 😯 They get that big? What do they eat? I thought they ate crickets but it seems that a 5’something iguana would need something bigger. Do you have any pics of him? He sounds really neat! What kind of tank or container would you keep one of that size in?

Yeah, some of them can get 6′ long! A lot of people who buy them don’t know that, and end up getting rid of it, or dooming them to a short life in a tiny tank. Iguanas are predominantly herbivores, and feeding protein like crickets is unnecessary and often a health risk. Dark leafy greens, shredded veggies, etc. Even safe flowers. You gotta prepare their salads (no lettuce though, at least iceberg, it’s got no nutrition to it) daily and often the things you should feed are hard to find.
You should always keep them in something at least 1.5X their length. That means an adult should have, at the minimum, a 9′ x 8′ enclosure. That’s big! The easiest thing is to turn a room of your house into a habitat for them. My aunt lets hers have free range of her iguana-proofed home when she’s at home.
Here’s some general info on them:
http://www.greenigsociety.org/careinfo.htmThough recently there has been a great deal of evidence that UVB lightbulbs do not provide enough UVB for iguanas and that they must have a good diet and exposure to natural, unfiltered sunlight to fully process their D3.
I don’t know if I have any photos of SAM (my iguana), I’ll have to look on my computer!

My art: featherdust.comJuly 27, 2007 at 3:55 pm #598919I’ve considered several times getting a lizard as a pet, iguanas are by far the easiest to obtain but I’ve never cared for a reptile before and am cautious about getting new pets. Pets are family to us and it would be heartbreaking if one didn’t work out… I think bearded dragons are pretty cool too.
