One of my ebay searches just kicked up this set of four “Sushi Cat” place mats, which I bought out of curiosity as much as anything.
I was wondering whether this is something that was legally produced, a knock off, or somebody getting creative and laminating “Sushi Cat” prints.

Wait… You got a set too? I am pretty sure they are fake.
Oh boy, that means somebody probably IS making them. Wolfenmachine had purchased a set too, and told me about them. She was told by the seller that they were from an estate sale.
They seem to be laminated photo copies of the print, far as she could tell. It doesn’t sound like they are real prints that have been laminated because the colors aren’t the same as the real print she has.
I was searching for these mats to buy some, but didn’t find a source for them.
If you guys see another set for sale, could you tell us? We need to stop them horse thieves.Thanks – will watch to see if I can find any more, though they don’t seem to pop up very often.
Now I’m really curious to see what arrives in the mail!

In the photo Wolfen sent me, the yellows were much brighter.

Yup! That’s my listing. I do have one of the original prints and the colors ARE darker and more vivid…but vivid in a bad way almost. They are cute! I’m only selling them because I don’t have a job right now and ….well I decided I can live without them.
Edit:…I do see that John bought them…. 🙁 does that mean I won’t get paid for them? *shifty eyes* I had 7 people watching them and thought the bid might go pretty high. I’m surprised there was only one bid.

Hah! I saw those and were wondering about them myself. I ALMOST went for them myself, but was like “just another thing for my cat’s to puke across and ruin on me” *face palm*
