Wow! I care! Many thanks for the information!
We get these things in our house all the time (West Texas). They look like scorpions at first glance, but when they move you know they definitely are not scorpions. They freak me out. They freak us all out. I’d rather know there was a scorpion in my bedroom than know one of these little monsters was there. Eeeugh!
Looking at all the photographs of them on this site has calmed me a bit, though. I still can’t see them as cute, but perhaps the next time I encounter one I’ll not be so spine-chillingly terrified.

Yeah, those things are icky and creepy. Don’t worry though. They don’t have any venom or poison. Just pinchers that are dangerous, if you are another, smaller bug :] Brave, hungry little chicks though. What are you planning with them and are you training them to be attack chicks? π
Sugar gliders having a party. Nice!
My black, American Cocker Spaniel, Soot, is extremely silent and sneaky. He has been known to steal peanut butter sandwiches, hotdogs from buns, has hopped up into chairs to eat cereal out of bowls (paws on table, while sitting), and he adores eating papertowel and tissues. Quick, sneaky and silent about it. It only takes a second of you turning your head. He has managed to get a good sized steak at one point as well. He is rather spooky though. Plastic bags freak him out.
Our old Bassett, Sam, from when I was really little, used to devour food faster than a hoover vaccuum. No chewing, just inhale. My parents got our old cat, Mittens (this was before I was born), and brought him home (a kitten at the time). He found the dog’s food and started investigating it. Sam came over, kitty’s head was sucked into the Sam’s mouth, and the kitten was swung from one side and then tossed to the other across the room. Kitty scurried and disappeared for a day. The one and only time they had a disagreement.

They’re my laying flock now. We won’t eat any of them, although we have one nasty hen that I keep threatening with the stewpot. And where bugs are concerned, they are definitely attack birds! π
Poor kitten! Quite a surprise, being swung around like that; it’s a good thing Labs tend to be gentle with anything that looks vaguely like a puppy. π

Nope. No labs here. Sam was a Bassett Hound. Hoover vacuums on legs I tell you! Considering the kitten lived to be about 20-22 years old, I’d say he wasn’t too traumatised. Just learned not to get in the dog’s food again π

Whoops! Sorry, siberakh. π³ That’s what I get for trying to type too fast while distracted. π

One of the eldery ladies in the neighborhood bakes our dog homemade doggie treats. He knows where she lives and always stops at her house when we go for walks, just to check. Well, last night she not only had treats for him but she had bought him a ball that rattles when you shake it. Boy is he spoiled! πSeptember 8, 2007 at 3:22 pm #613670The Castle [Dave wrote:“]Looking at all the photographs of them on this site has calmed me a bit, though. How does this site calm you?!?! I scrolled down- saw the photo taken by the soldier during Desert Storm of the two camel spiders and now I’m terrified! Although, the letter underneath was hilarious π
Great animal stories everyone. Really entertaining π
September 10, 2007 at 7:16 pm #613671OMG that’s so funny! I’m glad my cats can’t open doors or cabinets! @_@
My latest cat story involves our cat door. We have a special screendoor in the back with a catflap to let the cats go in and out. Most of the time, my cats are happy to go just around the backyard/frontyard or the empty lot next door that’s full of trees and long grass.
Last Thursday, I woke to a cat-yowl and at first I thought I’d dreamed it because my two cats do sometimes play too rough with each other but they don’t get to the point of yowling. But I got weirded out and went to look downstairs, and there was this huge white stange cat and a strange black cat IN our house! I think they must have followed our cats and seen them use the catflap, then snuck in and ate from their dry food bowl! So one of my cats, Blaze the brave, found the white cat and I think that’s how a fight broke out. It was very short but my poor baby did get his ear and nose scratched and a few punctures on his head, so that meant a trip to the vet to get checked out and get an antibiotic shot. We’ve kept the backdoor closed for a day or two, so his ear and head owie can get a chance to heal clean (helped by me and some good ol’ hydrogen peroxide!) and hopefully the white cat and the black cat will see the door locked and try stealing food elsewhere!
I’ve lived in this neighborhood for more than ten years and I’ve never seen either of those cats before! And when we thought about our cats meeting strange cats, we thought it would happen OUTSIDE not INSIDE XD
