I am going to write that one down in my book too. That sounds nice. I have been sipping on the cider all day.
Well it is hard to tell.I went to bed with a nasty soar throat, woke up later that night and gargled with salt water…and that seemed to cut it down for the rest of the night. Today I am loosing my voice some…no soar throat, but still have a lot of nasty mucus.
From what I have heard, other people in town have gotten this same thing and it has lasted a few weeks. My neighbor siad he went to the docter and they gave him antibiotics and the antibiotics did nothing.
I aam really starting to belive that most docters are idiots in thier proffesion now days. I reawlly mean it, honestly…I have been to so manny docters that off the bat say,” here, take these.” with out even really considering the symptoms. (maybe it is just here in california though)
I am thinking that this is just a viris though. most virisis come with bacteria infections…but because the viris is what promotes the bacteria growth, antibiotics are a worse choice. I’ll keep fighting it with the natural stuff and give it another week.
October 21, 2007 at 2:52 am #627642You’re most likely bang on as far as this being a virus . . . but green snot usually means that a secondary bacterial infection has moved in. We’re all loaded with bacteria, and they just sit there and wait for something–like a virus–to attack the body and make it possible for the bacteria to invade. The trouble with getting a bacterial infection on top of the virus is that it distracts the immune system! Now it’s got two enemies to fight instead of just one, and that makes recovery harder. Antibiotics will kill the bacteria, freeing up the immune system to go after that virus.
You’re also right in that antibiotics won’t kill the virus. That takes a nice happy immune system. So keep up with the good cider and chicken and tea and lots of rest! And remember, if those aren’t quite enough, then antibiotics are worth a go. Really. Well, it works in cats and dogs . . . .
October 21, 2007 at 2:58 pm #627643Ug…nothing worse than being sick…I don’t like to take stuff unless I have to but if I notice I’m not getting better or improving on my own I go for the antibiotics…some stuff (even minor sickies) can go big if left too long…I learned the hard way with bronchitis…Take care! π

Twindragonsmum: WOW! Made the hot chicken recipe the other night (with a few alterations as I didn’t have all the right ingredients) and it was fantastic! Can’t wait to try it again! Thanks for posting. π

Glad you liked it! Did you smoke yourself out of the house? π Sometimes my hunny makes it so hot the kids and I can’t eat it and he just rolls his eyes and asks what we’re complaining about π― π (I think he breathes fire)
