Wish I had the money… I don’t have a young yet, but I don’t want to offer less than he’s worth! Oh well…
I miss having two jobs…March 8, 2008 at 10:19 pm #664154i am interested in the orientals, but I don’t know much about them. Are the two bigger ones different from each other or two of the same? They seem to be different colors, are they the same sculpt, but different colors, or different sculpts, different colors? Were there ever any suns in these colors? I am seriously interested in the little one and probably in the bigger ones, but I won’t be in contact with my computer tomorrow until tomorrow night so I would like to know today if possible. Thank you! drgnlvr
March 8, 2008 at 10:56 pm #664155Correct me if I’m wrong Frozen, but there is a “big” peacock Oriental Dragon and a small baby peacock Oriental dragon for sale. I believe they are both the darker shade of peacock, but my monitor sometimes makes things look darker than they are. The larger, jade Oriental in the picture was sold some time ago. Yes, there were peacock Oriental Sun Dragons, but I’m not sure if they were produced in the dark peacock or just the lighter shade of peacock. I hope that helps.
March 8, 2008 at 11:40 pm #664156yes…the only ones available are the darker peacock color…large and small…
the jade was sold a while ago…
they did make oriental sun dragons in peacock and jade…
but I’m not sure if it was ever the dark peacock and the dark jade…
I haven’t kept up much with the colors of the orientals…
March 9, 2008 at 12:28 am #664157Thank you so much for the clarification, it really helps! I thought the colors were different, but with pictures, it’s really hard to tell when light is being distorted into another color. For instance, I just bought a Large wizard that is just like the one in the Windstone store except that it’s old and has purple paint, not blue. It’s stamped 86. I don’t know if it’s the same paint – purple distorted to blue or whether Windstone used to paint the Large wizards in purple paint and now paints them in blue and does that makes a difference in value? I’ve never been into wizards but this guy is starting to grow on me. I also got a really old wizard that is a stone, no color, with leaves everywhere, beard, robe, hair, really heavy. I have never seen anything like him. Do you anything about him? Any information would be greatly appreciated!! P.S. I’ll P.M. you about the orientals, Frozendragon

these are a dark, dark blue…with violet accents…
I know on some of the older peacock wizards…they were more violet than blue…
there are a lot of paint variances with each individual painter…that’s one of the things that makes them special…
older ones can go for more money…but value is mostly up to what each person prefers…
and I’ve heard of the Stone Wizard you’re talking about…but I’ve never seen one…

Hey-lo, drgnlvr! Frozen, not trying to butt in or anything, just thought I’d show her all the oriental colors together~ Hope this helps your decision! They’re my favorite sculpt, personally. *promotes*
The one Frozen is selling is the second from the left. The baby is the same color as that.
March 9, 2008 at 1:12 am #664160The wizard you’re asking about might be Wizard Woodlore. Here is a link to a picture of him. If this is the one, he is a retired “gargoyle”.
March 9, 2008 at 7:14 am #664161Wow, they are beautiful! I don’t see a ruby in there, do they also make one of those in this sculpt too? They look so great all lined up together like that! FrozenDragon,if someone overbids me do I get a second chance? Just thought I’d ask before it’s too late!
And yes! That is exactly the “wizard” I bought! I had no idea he would be classified as a “gargoyle”! I really don’t like gargoyles as an idea, meant to scare away demons by becoming ones, generally I think they are a really bad idea! All the ones I have ever seen have been really ugly, horrid really, especially the ones in Europe and I just never wanted to have anything to do with them any of them. I understand they are fantasy figures, but like devils and demons and satans, why have them in your house and your mind? I don’t get it. But this wizard isn’t ugly or scary or demonic. He is just studious and wizardy and foresty and intense. So why was he classified as a gargoyle? Because of the stone texture? Is he rare? The one I got is almost mint,no tag, but only one tiny chip on the bottom of the base. Thank you so much, you are a wealth of information!!March 9, 2008 at 2:40 pm #664162The Oriental Dragon was not made in Ruby.

I think Wizard Woodlore is classified as a gargoyle because of his finish/style. I’m afraid I don’t know a lot about him. I did a quick search of the forum’s back posts and I couldn’t find much information. If you like, you could start a new topic in the Ask Melody section and ask her about him. It’s always interesting to know what inspired the various pieces. 😀

Yeah, like Emerald said, no regular oriental in Ruby. =( Too bad, too. It would have been pretty. The Sun Oriental is in Ruby though!
March 9, 2008 at 5:11 pm #664165How many colors does the sun dragon oriental come in does anyone know?
