I normally make a list of stuff i would like to own (Windstone wise) and then i get them as soon as i get payed so monthly, with windstone being so far away i get them from the website as i know they will be well packed or from forum members.

Sometime i have stuff held untill i get the money, i say i will save to get something but then i don’t because i just keep spending the money on little things.

If i got tax refunds like you lot go on about i may keep it for one big thing. But i don’t pay tax 😀

So i just spend money as soon as i get it 🙄

I did that too, and it’s helped with not jumping on every new thing and going overboard. I just focus on what I really, really want, and try to plan to have the cash when it comes out (like Sunset Griffins!). I won’t go into credit card debt for anything–except emergency vet bills or the like.

I have a Windstone wish list and try to stick to that. Unfortunately, I go somewhere and there will be something I had never seen before–retired naturally–and there goes the plan.

As far as saving goes, I throw all my change into a jar and just let it accumulate. By the time the jar is full I have about $200 to spend. And change mounts up quickly.

I don’t really have any patterns in my spending. When my tax refund comes in, I try to hang onto it, but it usually gets whittled away on various things (fixing things around the house, small splurges for myself). As for spending in general, I probably spend less this year because of the increases in utilities, insurance and taxes. I think that affects everyone, because where I work (national home improvement service) we’re not doing the same amount of business we did last year. I’ve also had to buy a few ‘luxuries’ this year as needed replacements – new (used) car in January, new tv in March, new air conditioner in June (Happy Birthday to me) so that’s put an added demand on my monthly extra money.

In rediscovering Windstones, I’ve been checking out the local places that the Dealers List says carries Windstones. For me, I’ll do impulse buying if an item is under $100. I picked up a rainbow young dragon at the first shop I visited. I was just on a scouting trip at lunchtime, had no plans to buy anything. 🙂 A lot of what I was seeing in the gift shops seem to be smaller collectibles too. Fairy Artist figures seem to be the popular thing now.

I came across a peacock emperor in a shop that no longer carried the Windstones. I normally would not have bought this large of a sculpture, if I hadn’t seen it person. I like the blues and purples of the peacock color. I kept thinking about it, so a week later I went back to the shop and bought it. The retired color and the store sale was too good of an opportunity to pass up. I think with large sculptures and sculptures over $200, your average person will pause to think about the purchase and possibly talk themselves out of it.

Something I think that also influences collectible buying are the current popular movies. Wouldn’t having your own magic wand or time-turner be cool? When the movie Eragon was out, there were dragon things all over the place.

Enough rambling for now. Just thought I’d throw out some more ideas about spending. 🙂

      I don’t really have a pattern. I spend all the time. 😳
I’ve got my monthly Windstone allotment (credit card limit), and next to that I’m always putting aside at least half my pay into a sort of savings box or my bank account. I save until I have a certain amount and then round about my birthday or mid-year I go and invest it all in new guns and gear. I don’t really save long-term because I’ve got a savings account that’s full enough to take care of itself. I should, though.
