Melody, remember when Emerald Peacock, Gold, and Red Fire etc. new colors came out there were “special” runs of 10 pieces in the new color…

Violet Interference Wolf GriffinsI thought those were really cool. I had almost forgot about it, but going thru ddvm’s collection I was thinking it would be cool to maybe do a special run of 10 in some of the new colors that have been introduced like Prismatic Spring, Tanzanite, Violet Flame, Blue Morpho, Pastel Rainbow, etc.
Just a random thought bubble I had I wanted to share. What does everyone else think? Do you think it would be cool or a waste of time?

Do you mean on sculpts they aren’t already on or the colours would be changed or enhanced a bit on some pieces? I’m still hoping to see pastel rainbow or black rainbow griffins and kirins and pegasi!

Well, there were runs of 10 special dragons before… like the male, mother, fledge, old warrior, lap and scratcher I think… some even had the youngs and spectrals I think… but yes, a special or enhanced design. Maybe some just have special invisible paint or some other unique highlight that makes them special from the production ones. *shrug* I think the almost all those colors would look cool with the magic paint. Maybe instead blue morpho there is a special 10 monarch series in orange, but in the same paint pattern as blue morpho… just an orange base instead of blue… that would be fun.. Or a reverse on the color pallet.. like a reverse pastel rainbow or reverse prismatic spring… I dunno.. it was just an idea.
I would also like to see some of the new colors represented on kirins and griffins though…

It was testing tweaks of a color in planning stages (as my OW was) or a run of an existing color tweaked or enhanced for basically a very limited production run- usually 10, I remember at least a couple of 25. For empea, besides the experimenting run my OW came from, there were limited runs of males and mothers in Intende Violet Empea- when the color was first released, it had a lot more of the violet paint than it did after a bit. People squeaked for the purple, and so a limited run with it was released. It seemed back then that there would be fewer sculpts in the test runs, often just one or two of a species instead of the whole selection. But there would be more pieces painted in it. I liked it, not so good if you want entire families but more people got a chance to own one.
I think it’s a great idea, there’s so many great colors that need to see more action I think.
Btw, I’m also eagerly awaiting the Pastel rainbow Kirins! Hopefully the horns are being sorted out and we’ll see a new family soon!

The special 10s were interesting, and I even own a few, but it then limits what Windstone can do with the coloration in the future. From a business standpoint it’s a bad idea because they might accidentally discover a really popular variant that they them cannot sell to the public. That’s the issue they ran into with some of the early SKs colors that are now standard production, but Windstone can’t make SKs in that color.We need to increase Windstone’s options to stay in business not ask them to limit those options.

Sun Dragon Koi #3I just thought a lot of the colors have a lot more potential and a couple special variants might have been nice like they used to do. And a variant of an existing color doesn’t limit them really, it actually expands it. Even if it was just a dusting of special invisible paint or an color variation like the violet on the emerald peacocks, it doesn’t mean they aren’t still producing the emerald peacock, gold, etc.
I wasn’t suggesting the other sculptures they haven’t been painted in be limited.

I really really love the color of my BVP test OW and have longed for another like it. (The biggest difference is the absence of the lime green color: he’s strictly emerald/blue/violet, but there’s also more violet and probably a couple of other minor differences.)
Interested in buying or trading for: GB Pebble Sitting Red Fox in dark grey, Lap Dragon Test Paints (Water Sprite, Glacial Pearl, Opulence, Pastel Rainbow, and many others - see my Classifieds ad), Blue Morpho OW, GB Pebble Loaf dragons in blue/aqua/teal, and Griffin Test Paints (Black Rainbow or Frosted Jade).
I think they actually did do special runs of that as they were an inverted version of Black Emerald Peacock. The Black Violet Peacock were the special ones.
