September 4, 2008 at 6:56 am #731157Well, The Smell (it definitely deserves capital letters) eventually went away, so Ron isn’t Foul Ol’ Ron anymore. 🙂
But he’s turned into Ron Wheezy instead, poor guy. The first surgery went very well, and he recovered nicely. His head tilt is all gone. Unfortunately he seems to have grown the polyp back though this time just the part in the back of his throat and not the part in his inner ear. It makes him sound funny, especially when he snores or purrs. So he’s going to need surgery again eventually, though at the moment I’m putting it off because it’s not affecting his health. He’s very healthy and active (a little too active maybe, he knocked JJ’s Lego Star Destroyer over the other day, and that thing is HUGE, it made such a crash, and such a mess!) And since I’m really very broke I’m putting it off a little, though of course I’ll take him in immediately if he shows any signs of distress.
From all I’ve read nobody knows why polyps grow, and nobody knows why they sometimes grow back and sometimes don’t, so it’s possible he’ll need regular surgery to remove it periodically for his whole life. 🙁 Hopefully not though. Guess I’ll find out.
He’s grown a lot, he’s already getting huge, and he’s not done yet. He’s going to be a monster eventually. He and Kali are buddies now, they wrestle around all the time. And even though he’s bigger, Kali usually wins. Tari has started to tolerate him when he’s holding still, but if he starts running around, she hisses and chases him off. And then sometimes he’s just a brat and chases her around instead.
September 4, 2008 at 9:22 am #731158I’m sorry your kitty had to have surgery, but I’m really glad he’s doing better.
September 4, 2008 at 12:58 pm #731159Happy to hear the smell lifted and he holds his head straight now! That’s a bummer the polyp reappeared, but I’m glad you have the option of waiting.
Don’t suppose you have any more photos to share? ❓ 😀

September 5, 2008 at 7:16 am #731164Hopefully I can remember what I have and haven’t shared already…
Kali loves to burrow under my fabric. Ron finds this fascinating.
They look like they’re fighting, but they’re just playing.
Tari is above all this silliness. (A rare shot of all three of them.)
Bonus photo. Kali being unbearably cute.
