I’ll be a bit sparse for a few days. We have had some really wicked weather move though, and dropped a tornado close to where we are. Electric is spotty, and we’re under a state of emergency for flash flooding. My husband stayed up last night and listened to the scanner, feeling terrible for all the people they were evacuating. We got over 5″ from a single storm that blew though yesterday, and here in hill country when you count that 5″ over all the hills, which it just runs off of because the ground is already saturated… our creeks, streams, and rivers are almost all at flood stage. I am fine, other than excessive water seepage into our basement, we have no risk of flood because we’re on a hill.

My art: featherdust.comAugust 10, 2009 at 5:27 pm #779433Good to hear you are ok. I was watching the storms move across the state last night until we got a nasty one around 2am, so it sounded like a good time to head to bed and shut the pc and tv off. Nasty stuff out your way.
August 10, 2009 at 5:49 pm #779434I had some fun with flooding this weekend, 🙄 and I doubt it was 5″–just came down too fast. I hope things let up soon in your area!
August 10, 2009 at 6:52 pm #779435At home, we were fine (though the pool’s threatening to overflow), however at work, ’twas another story entirely: rain and hail in such quantities and little time that the fitness center got flooded – something like 2 inches of water in the women’s change room. I wasn’t in that day, but I saw the aftermath, so huge fans and dehumidifiers to try to dry stuff.
No evacuation or anything that drastic though. Stay safe, Nam!

It was actually those same storms that hit us. They generated a lot of power and speed when they hit the Great Lakes though, and by the time they got to us they were very powerful!

August 11, 2009 at 5:45 am #779441What they said. Sorry for bothering you about immaterial things like invoices – you stay safe and dry! 😆
Come to think of it, what do you do during such bad weather? I always find it a very comfortable atmosphere to either read or work on artwork.August 11, 2009 at 2:36 pm #779442It’s okay GB!
Usually we just watch the storms roll through. Though this time, we had to take shelter because of the tornado warnings, then we had to start cleaning the water out of our basement before it ruined the carpet!
I am doing artwork so much each day that it’s no different for me to sit down and work, though the humidity has made it hard to do Windstones.Volunteer mod- I'm here to help! Email me for the best response: nambroth at gmail.com
