People will steal anything that isn’t glued, chained or spot-welded down. I had a ‘friend’ of mine brag to me about how she stole a big stone gargoyle from someone’s lawn. She had it proudly displayed in her living room :nea: . It looked like it weighed at least 50 lbs, maybe more. All I could think was how p$@#ed the original ownwers would be when they dicovered that their statue missing. Plus, the feeling of being violated. I’ve had stuff stollen from me – it sucks! Sorry you had to go through that, drgnlvr 🙁 . *hugs*
That sounds like something that happened to the scrooge of my gram’ma’s neighborhood. He had two 400 pound lion gargoyles guarding the stairs to his house. Well one night some people took them, that of course was a big group effort but nobody saw or heard anything. He was so mad that they were gone.
People are crazy, maybe they thought it would go with their décor… Sorry about the loss of your pot and flower.
February 28, 2009 at 2:57 am #752817Thank you so much for the condolences! They really do help! Everytime I walk by where the pot used to be I get sad and then angry and then sad again. 😥 😡 :shout: 😥 I will have to get another pot and plant soon so I can quit doing that! When it quits raining here, I will scout out another one and make sure it doesn’t disappear!! Thank you!!
February 28, 2009 at 5:36 am #752818Plant it with a nice patch of stinging nettles. 👿
February 28, 2009 at 10:25 am #752819Not it would work for you…but there is a type of evergreen shrub that looks really nice potted and spread to those nice edges that seem so perfect for hand holds…thing is they are pretty sharp and spikey…I’ve stuck myself several times on em’ .. 😉
February 28, 2009 at 2:53 pm #752820You could always go the route of one of the orchards in this area who has signs posted along the edges of their groves warning that there are two poisonous peach trees somewhere among the good peach trees and they thieve at their own risk.

Is there such a thing as a poisonous peach tree? o.o
March 1, 2009 at 2:07 am #752823I am sorry your pot and flower was stolden that can be quite a shock. Years ago I had a pair of concrete lions stolen off my front porch late on a Sunday night and they weighed 135 lbs each so it couldn’t have been kids. What was so stupid on my part was I was lying in bed reading a book and my dog started barking like crazy. All I had to do was hit a button on the nightstand and the whole house, inside and out, would have lite up like the 4th of July but NO I just said Starfire Mist (prior to Tristen) stop that barking. I should have known somethng was wrong or she wouldn’t bark. The next morning I went out to get the paper and they were gone – shock. By the way you will probably always remember it

Yeppers!
Actually, all peach trees are poisonous. It’s only the fruit pulp and fruit skin that are edible. Leaves, bark, roots, all contain cyanide.
And hey, the pesticides and herbicides sprayed on peach fruit are none too good for you either. Probably wont’ kill you, but will make you sick enough to not steal another peach. 😛 Fortunately, they have a short half-life and are gone before the fruit is picked. But there’s no way to know when they were sprayed on last, without asking the farmer.

As far as the actual fruit flesh that we eat? Nope. No such thing.
March 6, 2009 at 12:16 pm #752827heck we had people stealing stuff at a yard sale for Goodness sake your gonna steal a .25 shirt! heck just take the thing! This people just kept pilling things up and wandering over to their truck and putting the stuff in there. Like we didn’t see them then the guy came over to haggle over a 5.00 fishing pole I said it would be 15.00 with all that OTHER stuff you just put in your truck! Fools! come on! we aren’t talking high dollar crap we are talking 2-3 dollars top….WHY steal it!! because you can??!! sheesshhh no morals anymore, no right, no wrong….just sad 🙁
March 8, 2009 at 8:35 pm #752828I’m curious, did he pay for the stuff he put in his truck or did he bring it back or deny it or just drive off? I’ve had that happen at my yard sales too. They ask the price on something, then turn it down but it never gets back on the table. When we had an estate sale when my mom died, we had 700 people show up (we had a lot of help from family, friends, and neighbors or we could never have done it!) But a little child’s card table and 3 chairs all disappeared in the scramble. Somehow they managed to take it right out from under all the watchful people we had. Another one we had, we had big furniture that we couldn’t put away, so I slept outside on one of the beds that was for sale. At 4am, a truck pulled up and started going through the stuff!! When I came awake and started shouting, they ran away into the truck and drove away. If I hadn’t done that, they would have taken everything! It happened again about 10 years later, the college kids came at about 6am and stole a lot of stuff, only I wasn’t there this time, so they got away with it, but I know who they were because one of them left a sweatshirt with the college logo on it! Really amazing! I’m glad I’m not doing yard sales anymore! But I like going to them, not giving them!
I really appreciate all the condolences!! I haven’t replaced the pot yet, but I will when the weather improves. I will keep you posted when I do. Thank you!! -
