I know if I didn’t go up to the “main” post office here and have them run the delivery confirmation number that the company gave me from ordering T-shirts, I probably would have never seen them.

I hope all goes well and that they post office replaces those tickets at your post ladies $. She KNEW BETTER than to do what she did.

I remember going to the post office multiple times after it said it was at a specific post office, since I didn’t have the card number, I gave them my box number… they were getting mad at ME for what THEIR site said was there for 3 days, when I finally get the number, I bring it to them, first thing they say is, it’s not here, I give them the delivery number, and they look it up and… oh. It’s there. It’s been there since their site said it was there. 👿

At least they don’t throw my stuff out in the rain! 😯 I hope you get your tickets back!

Here’s one. This one is a mail screw-up, though I don’t know if it’s the DMV’s fault or the postal service…

Back in the beginning of January 2008 we had to turn in the title to our car because we moved from out of state. We paid far out the butt to do this as it is legally required. It was not at all cheap! The state of NY was supposed to process it and send us a new title to our car within 90 days. This is, as you know, a pretty vital piece of paper and it proved that we owned the car that we paid tens of thousands of dollars for.
So, they have this nifty way you can track your title through the website. At the beginning of March we are excited to see that the title was processed and shipped. So we watched the mailbox. And watched it and watched it. Nothing. Three weeks later, we visited the DMV to ask what on earth had happened! It said that the title shipped but we didn’t get it. We talked to two different people who looked it up, said “Yup it shipped to you!” they confirmed our address (my parents have had this address since the 1970s… it hasn’t changed in the last 38 years!) and pretty much told us that we were out of luck. Horrified, I asked if they even put tracking on it. Well, no. What! We paid a very hefty sun for someone in an office to simply click a ‘print’ button and ship us a new title. Couldn’t they have paid the $0.15 for delivery confirmation? I’m sure the state would even get a price break on shipping. Cripes.

We asked them at least 5 times, in different and polite ways, if there was ANY WAY it maybe was delivered to the DMV and if they would have it. We were told, No. They never end up with the titles.
So we were told that we’d have to pay the outrageous fees again to get a copy of the title and that it would take another 90 business days (and no they cannot put tracking on it this time). Well needless to say we couldn’t afford it at the time.

So we were just getting ready to go to the DMV and pay far too much yet again and get the new title ordered this past Friday. I checked the mail and to my surprise was a hand-written addressed letter from the DMV.

I open it. Inside is our title. No note, nothing saying “Oh hey LOL whoops we had it all along!”… nothing.

But at least we don’t have to buy a new one…. 8 months later. 🙄

I really don’t understand why the US does titles that way. Here you have your registration and there is liens listed against it.

I’m glad that worked out! That had the potential to cost thousands of dollars! 😯 It sounds like the DMV dropped the ball.

That’s the best part. We 100% own the car, fully paid off. >_<

And yet, here when you buy a car, you write up a bill of sale, go to the DMV, buy your plates and are given the title, then you go back and pay for the car and pick it up.

That’s just plain rude of her, Griffinlover. I hope that doesn’t continue.
