I thought I’d put up photos of this, and I went to find the thread and link to the better photos I just got, but… I can’t find where I put photos up in the first place, so I think I never actually did.
So here they are. (Warning! Images are HUGE. I didn’t want to crop them down, since they show the details so well, and this one came out so nicely.)

http://bladespark.topcities.com/twgriff6.jpgThis was another Christmas present, for a friend in England who I know loves snowy owls. I’ve no idea how he feels about tabby cats, but I figured I should finally do something other than snow leopards for a butt on these things.
December 25, 2006 at 11:21 pm #519987I really like the way you did the markings on the wings, with just a few feathers tipped darkly…it’s really pretty! And the owl markings are a really nice match for the light tabby! When I did my snowy owl, my intention was to make it with a white tiger butt…I ended up doing the snow leopard, but I think a tabby butt like this would have been better than a tiger, if I had still wanted to do stripes…
boy, that sentence felt convoluted…hope that makes sense!

-J R R TolkienDecember 25, 2006 at 11:48 pm #519988I think it did. I was thinking of white tiger too, for this, but then I loved all the soft grays on the top half, and white tigers really are properly bold black and white. I was picturing how one would look in softer shades, and I realized that hey, a gray tabby looks like that!

December 26, 2006 at 5:31 am #519991Brown. They’re very dark.
December 26, 2006 at 5:54 am #519992I just noticed they almost disappear in the black on the photos, but I’m sure that’s just because of the pictures. They probably show clearer in real life.
December 26, 2006 at 9:45 am #519993Very pretty! The blending on the feathers is quite nice!
December 26, 2006 at 9:52 am #519994Thank you! I’m still learning, but I think I’m getting a little better.
December 26, 2006 at 6:43 pm #519995Very nice. I also like the wings. To me, the eyes looked red…but like they said it must be my monitor or the pic.
