It snowed last night!
And to make the day extra special, I was able to photograph a group of wild Snow Leopard fuzzies. This is one of the rarest known fuzzy species. They have only ever been found where snow is present, and they seem to be the most active directly after a fresh snowfall. It has been theorized that they hibernate most of the year. The two smaller ones playing together (right)
Here, the whole group stops to excavate a snow mound (perhaps thinking of making a den?)
Before continuing on their journey…

January 18, 2012 at 11:38 pm #869672These were very small, the longest may have been about 4-1/2″. In places where there is more snow, they can get a lot bigger and have much fluffier coats. They didn’t pay any attention to me. They must have known the snow would melt soon, and they were in a hurry to get to the tree line on the other side of the field. The snow lasts a little longer under the trees.
