Hi! As you can tell, I’m new. I was looking for some advice on fixing up two of my windstone sculptures. One is a young unicorn that had it’s front legs snap off in one clean piece when I was moving:

It fits back in place just fine, with just a fine crack visible in the front and a tiny bit of chipping of paint in the back, so hopefully this will be as simple as glueing it back in place.

What sort of glue or adhesive should I use for this? As well, is there anything I can do to minimize the crack? Match the colour and repaint the area? What type of paint should I use if that is the case?
And the other is a baby kirin that I have had forever, and that has a couple chips on the hooves:

This one would be a bit more tough to do, since I would need to fill in and resculpt the chips, then repaint. Any advice?
Thank you all very much in advance for any tips or advice!

Read my books! Volume 1 and 2 of A Dragon Medley are available now.

Yeah, I figured the kirin would be more difficult, since the chips are long lost.

I use Loctite gel myself, but I know some people use elmers. That shoudl work for the Young Unicorn.
For the hoof on the Kirin, apoxie sculpt works wonders for resculpting. It’s easy to work with, doesn’t crumble, and is sandable and paintable as well. *nods* I bought my last batch on amazon for a good price. The White works best in my opinion.

I’m fairly sure we I have some elmers glue kicking around somewhere, and apoxie sculpt I can get pretty easy.

Reading it gave me the confidence to order some Apoxie Sculpt and start doing some repairs of my own. I’ll always be grateful that you took the trouble to post all those photos and describe your process! It’s been so crazy helpful and lots of busted Windstones have benefited from it. <3
July 1, 2012 at 2:00 am #882723Awe shucks no problem!! ^_^ anything to these don’t end up in the scrap heap!
I also have a NEW BEST FRIEND when it comes to repairs and I shall share it with you ^_^ for TINY cracks and creating SUPER SMOOTH scales I have been using “Citadel Liquid Green Stuff” When you thin it out, it works absolutely AMAZING on things like Oriental Dragon scales and other things that are otherwise impossible to disguise because the blemish is too small for sculpting clays to adhere to the surface. If you apply enough coats you can even sand it. It’s freakin awesome stuff!
