LOVE THEM!!!! I was very naughty and bought both of them 😳 I was wondering if there were going to be mothers, youngs and grand unis? And if so will they be released in the darker version as well as the lighter version? Are you going to keep both versions available or switch over to the light version?
Thank you so much for a new unicorn color they are so lovely 🙂April 27, 2010 at 3:14 am #500666April 27, 2010 at 5:59 am #812956Ugh, I’m so sad I missed out on them! I hope more are released soon! *hint, hint*

Thank you so much for a new unicorn color they are so lovely 🙂I will do enough mother unis to match the males that are in slate grulla.
I haven’t decided which grulla version I will do more of, after that.
What I need to do is post a blog with a pic of both kinds and see which one folks prefer: the “slate” which is slightly darker ( this color reminds me of storm clouds)
-and the “silver” grulla which is lighter and has streaks of light color in the mane and tail… So far around here, Chessie and Pam prefer the light one, and Susie likes the dark one.
Doing both is fine for limited production in our store, but if I want to do a grulla as production , I’ll need to decide on one standard color.April 27, 2010 at 3:13 pm #812958Thank you so much Melody for painting some new unicorns for the store!!! 😀 I almost peed my pants when I saw them last night!
I am curious to see the lighter version too. A comparison pic in the blog would be neat. Is grulla your favorite equine color to paint? Are you just playing with this coloration for regular production use? What about dun or buckskin, or palomino?
April 27, 2010 at 3:20 pm #812959Or you could do every horse color you possibly can as production 😀
April 27, 2010 at 5:20 pm #812960Oooo how exciting! Can’t wait to see what that lighter color looks like… My unicorn collection might be getting very large pretty soon 😆 I hope i’m home to snag a dark colored mother unicorn. It was only by chance I saw the male and baby. There were only about 4 of each left when I arrived on scene and no more left within about an hour
April 27, 2010 at 5:21 pm #812961One more question. Do they have dorsal stripes as gruellas? I can’t see in the store pics
April 27, 2010 at 6:09 pm #812962I missed the slate grulla but the silver sounds even better so I’ll stalk the store for those. 😀
April 27, 2010 at 6:25 pm #812963Yes, they have dorsal stripes.

That’s a great idea! You should do that for Flap Cats as well 😀
April 28, 2010 at 10:15 pm #812965AnonymousHi!
I know nothing about horses, so apparently there is a Slate Grulla Horse; and to prove I know nothing, I had to ask if some horses have the beard, like the Unicorns 😡 With this being said I was curious why the beard on the Uni wasn’t painted dark like the mane and tail on the Grulla that just sold – curious and all that 🙂 Now I am going to google grulla horse!!
April 29, 2010 at 1:37 am #812966Any chance of the pegasus family making an appearance in (silver and/or slate) grulla?

Yes. I personally just love the way grullas (and most duns) often have a coat color that shades from dark to a lighter color on the undersides -and I just love dorsal stripes! I am trying to find a color that is easy to paint, and one that folks like.
The unicorns are the best candidates for dun because most of the Pegasus family have their wings ( or eggshell) covering the dorsal stripe area. They’d be best in palomino or chestnut. -
