You said in another post that you had a lot less free time at work. What is it that’s different about this job?
And are you settled in? I think I read you were having a hard time with your neighbours. Are things better now?
Read my books! Volume 1 and 2 of A Dragon Medley are available now.

And are you settled in? I think I read you were having a hard time with your neighbours. Are things better now?Awwww, thanks for asking π My new job is busier than my last one because I have two jobs here. I am doing the same thing I did in my last unit, which is being in charge of the Quality Control shop. That consists of 20 Blackhawks and now 8 Chinooks… that I know nothing about. Its unique… I am also the Headquarters Platoon Sergeant because the other Soldier who was supposed to take over that position got a DUI and you cant be in a leadership position when you do stuff like that. π WTG. So its very busy and some days I am just going from meeting to meeting. I have a few Soldiers who are overweight and a few who cant pass their Physical Fitness test and a coupld jerks, but overall its just busy. They are poor, too, which is really sad. One internet connection in my office (that I share with not only 5 of my NCOs but with Production Control as well)… and I dont have a printer. I may sound Diva, but for an E-7 to not have a printer is kinda unheard of. π The furniture is old too and they are kinda stck in the dark ages technology wise. π I am loving it though, and I certainly feel needed.
And you? β π
July 6, 2008 at 7:43 pm #720862Well, I’m starting my 3rd week with the job share thing. Of course, I’m really enjoying the days off. During those, I’m trying to set myself a writing schedule; I think I might aim for 2000 words a day, but I don’t know yet if it’s too ambitious or not.
As for the days when I’m in the office, well it turns out that things weren’t done in the order they should have (big surprise there). They reduced staff before reducing the workload, so everyone’s going nuts. I’m also no longer going to be working on some systems and no one else seems to know what to do with them. I really wonder what they would have done if I had left at the end of May like I was initially supposed to. Mind you, part of the leverage to approve the job share was that I am the “super-user” in those systems, so I’m saving their butts. π
In general, life’s pretty good!

I’ve been teaching for two years and only recently got a printer from the school…I had to bring in my own. And the one they gave me doesn’t work right…Oh well. That’s one of the joys of teaching, I suppose. π

Right now, I’m working on a science-fiction story. I finished my first fantasy novel and it’s about… dragons!

The sci-fi one, nope, ’cause I’m soooo not done with it, not even close.
The fantasy I submitted to a publisher with this as the blurb (thanks to everyone here who helped with it!):
Meeryle, a blooming chubby cook, and her friend Leena, the apprentice-Healer, never knew how strange and interesting life could be until they met a dragon. Much to their surprise, the creature is not a ferocious carnivore, but a gentle giant caring for a particular aspect of their world, the forest. However, the mistrust of anything not human puts the life of the dragon β and the forest in which they live β in danger.
That would be more than enough but Meeryle is also unknowingly hiding a huge secret from everyone, including Leena, that will put their friendship in peril. Can they overcome their own differences and save their dragon friend β without losing everything?
I haven’t heard back from them yet (these things take months!) but when I do, if they do agree to publish, I’ll be squealing here!

Maybe that’s the Army’s way of making sure their soldiers get exercise. π

π π Not really any romance. That’s for later.
Yes, I’m going for an environmental theme, where humans have to find a way to fit in with the world in which they live.
I need to paint a PYO dragon like one of my characters.

Hahaha! That’s a good one! But all joking aside, I have some coworkers who will use the network printer rather than their desk one just to get up more often. How sad is that?
