I don’t think it’s ever been officially asked (and if it has already, oops π³ ):
Melody, would you please consider publishing a sketchbook? It could contain a mix of anything from detailed Ebay type sketches to development sketches like the dragon ducks to quick sketches like on the COA. Old stuff, new stuff; anything really! Many of us adore your animal sketches and would love to have a book compiled of them. π

The problem with stuff like that is publishing it…either you print it yourself ( costs lots of money up front), or you could use a print-on-demand company, like Lu-Lu or Cafe press. I simply love these companies, but the return in $$ is so small, it really isn’t worthwhile to invest time in these projects unless you got the spare time to burn, or get some other kind or return out of it. I would love to do it just for fun, but we are putting fun on the back burner right now! If we publish anything I would like to concentrate on a Windstone collector’s book. That is what we really need!

Oh don’t I know it. π Publishing on demand pretty much sucked a ton of time and money out of me, for pretty much no return. But people liked them, which I am glad for!

That could eat up some time…Well, it does eat up time. I have my own sort of thing like this (It’s so out of order anymore, it would take me days just to sort it all back out! Poor stack of papers in the box waiting patiently for me to get to them again. π³ )…Mainly I keep up on production and LP…The artist editions and ebay pieces I have put on the back burner since I am limited on time anymore. I was all caught up until all the warehouse cleaning led to so many ebay pieces. It is fun for me to keep track of these things, and I sorely miss being able to work on the book more, but paying work comes first (Not that I won’t keep working on it anyway! lol). π Not that I have to like it that way! π
March 29, 2009 at 5:42 am #758277A collectors book would be fabulous, Melody π I’m going to squeak for a new print too. π Maybe a Griffin of some sort? Or Kirin? None of your old drawings (that I’ve seen) were of either. I still can see my walls, I need more Windstone art!
March 30, 2009 at 5:49 am #758278Squeak for the book. And in the mean time, I think it would be fun to see a couple more spontaneous sketches on E-Bay.
March 30, 2009 at 1:44 pm #758279Interesting that this subject should pop up now; Schiffer Books for Collectors is looking for “…people to write books on new and related subjects.” They can be contacted at

web site: http://www.schifferbooks.comIt would be wonderful to see a book/books about collecting Windstone Editions pieces – one that includes a history of Windstone, a price guide as well as photographs, years that items were produced, limited edition pieces, sketches and prints, etc. – the whole shebang π I don’t know enough about Melody or the company or the special artists, to do this topic any justice but I do know that we have folks at Windstone and on our forum that would do a wonderful job. I think someone here should at least contact Schiffer Books to see if they’d be interested in a Windstone collectors book π

I know this might sound like blasphemy, but I think I like your sketches more than your sculptures, so I’m excited and eager for a sketchbook π
