If I wrote a program and hatched Windstones, I’m sure you’d all freak over it. The question is, how do I make money from it? It has to be able to support what gets used in server resources and traffic that it would generate.

Any thoughts?

Well, how does the DragonCave generate money? Allow ad generator on the sides?

The problems with ads are:

1. A page that just hands out eggs has zero content and can’t really focus the target of any ad, therefore the revenue potential is basically nil

2. The ads only show when you visit the site to actually collect an egg, not when they are being displayed all over the web on people’s signatures, and that’s where the resources are chewed up.

3. Ads are too easily blocked/not loaded by end users.

Well, do they have to all be unique? Maybe there could be an option to pick color or sculpt (hatching dragon, hatching griffin, hatching llama 😆 )…something like that, but I don’t think you’d want to restrict it such that only one person could have a hatching windstone dragon. Too many people would want one, don’t you think? 😉

😆 I’ve almost finished my collection of Dragon Cave dragons, please don’t make something similar. Cause then I’ll feel like I have to have them all too. I’m so sick of those dragons right now….

Never touched the site and don’t intend to, but don’t people make and sell unique images on Gaia? I seem to remember a friend talking about it once, and they make a good bit of money. There must be a way to make it so that others can’t hotlink it, or people would never buy the things, they’d just swipe them. Unless I’m totally misunderstanding the Gaia thing (very possible).
