Maybe I’m weird, but they don’t look monotoned AT ALL to me! I think the gold is more monotoned than the silver!! Well maybe not the new gold with all the brown in it…but just look at the pic in Silverdragon’s sig – there’s A LOT of shading and accenting in that silver!

the OW’s always seem to come out nicer. I’m thinking about the family in silver. I would have to see it first. I do like the OW pic here so maybe I would change my mind after seeing one in person

Ah – okay, well you have me there. The OW does do a good job of showing off whatever he’s wearing to it’s best advantage. I’m not a huge fan of the original family, so I don’t think of them too often ;P Sorry!

Question, are you going to one day do silver on some of the dragons to be available in stores? I really liked the silver Old Warrior. *stares at sig* And i was wondering if that was only a limited color or…it could possibly be in stores one day. 🙂

I’ve been putting off doing silver dragons because I want them to have better eyes.I want to wait till we come up with a nice purple eye color.

He he he. I suppose proper purple eyes might be worth waiting for….

And I second the request for silver fledgelings, when you do get around to doing more things in silver!

              OOOOOoooo Violet eyes…*melts*

Violet is too pale. A nice, deep purple like on a peacock Spectral… 😀

                Yeah, dark purple.

How bout Dioxazine Purple? The one I have from Windsor& Newton called “Finity” is so dark it looks almost black. But I got it for $1.69 for a 2 oz tube…I didn’t mean a light shade when I said violet. For some reason my violet paint must be darker than others… 😕

The problem is that eyes for Windstones aren’t acrylic paint, they’re more like a ceramic glaze. (What is the actual method, are they fired on? Or are they just painted, and it’s the limitations of the kind of paint you have to use?)

They are fired-on glass paint. That is powdered glass mixed with sticky stuff that gets painted on, then fired in a kiln. The glass paint fusess right onto the eye, so it is NEVER gonna come off. Any regular paint we have tried will come off of the glass eyes if it is abused enough. ( soaked in water, frozen and baked repeatedly, we really test stuff! )
The problem with fired-on paint is that is is limited in color.

                    Yeah, dark purple.

Awww, I want a silver dragon with GREEN eyes. There haven’t been any production green-eyed dragons.
