My mom once told me (but I’ve never researched it) that the earlier you start with babies, the better: that way, they don’t forget how to swim! ’cause that’s what they do in the womb…

I don’t know if anyone here saw the movie Amélie Poulain, but there are shots of swimming babies in there. I’d say they’re between 4-6 months, and they’re swimming underwater, doggie-like, eyes wide open, face squinted in the effort to hold their breath. It’s a really neat thing to see.

I can’t wait to hear how Alyssa does! My 9-year-old’s really a fish, actually… and we didn’t do the baby swimming thing, either! I think if we had, she’d have grown fins by now.

Read my books! Volume 1 and 2 of A Dragon Medley are available now.

I didnt learn to swim til I was 18, and I love it. Through the summer I’ve been working with Donovan learning to swim, I started last year when he was five. He does really well, although I didnt start him as an infant. 😀 😀

Well it was so hot out today and I really didn’t want to turn on the ac so we headed over to my moms house to use the pool while she was at work. Of course my grand master plan was to jump in, get wet, then leave before my mom came home but that didn’t work out. We did get a free steak dinner though and of course I got a nasty email later but hey I’m all for free steak. Anyhoo here are some pics of Alyssa in the pool for the first time.

                tasty fingers!

Did I mention the fingers are tasty?

yes I know I need some sun

What is this giant thing you have me in?

On a side not I called her pediatrician to see if I could put sunblock on her since she is only 4 months old and all the kids sun block say for 6 months and up. They told me they don’t recommend taking children under 6 months outside (no joke). I was like “ummm ok but if I do take her outside can I use it?” They told me it was fine so long as I didn’t put any on her hands since they go right in her mouth.

                  She’s so adorable!

And seriously, they said to keep kids inside their first 6 months of life? Humans are getting so wimpy! 😆

Seriously thats what they told me. I was like “umm no” we go out on walks in the park and all that. I usually have her in a stroller and keep her covered but I wanted to know if sunblock was ok to use too. She has a whole mess of sun hats and some sunglasses (they still don’t fit her yet). I know I burn like crazy so I don’t want to see the same thing happen to her since she has my lily white skin.

Aww what a cutie! And wow, inside for the first 6 months? I’ve never heard that 😯

Very cute! 😀 I have really white skin too, and unfortunately Chloe also has my skin, and just like you, I get burned easily and I don’t tan, so I am nervous about sun exposure. My sisters have always said that if it wasn’t for my freckles, I would be an albino. 😆

hmmm…I know my son didn’t stay inside for six months after he was born. That’s silly!!! 😕

Cute pics of our little Windstone girl!!! 😀
