I’m really worried about my cat Raven. He ate some grass like decoration and now he is sick. Some white liquid stuff comes out and when I cleaned it with a paper towel there was a little blood.
He can still eat is food and drink but he is still trying to pass this ‘grass’.
It is stiff, even in water it stays stiff so that worries me. The decoration is made from natural tall grass.

I just got rid of everything that is grass like in the house!

Did any of you ever had a cat in this situation before?

Is he passing anything normaly? If not I would get him to a vet right away or atleast call one and tell them whats going on. I hope he is ok!

Yeah I would take him to a vet asap. If the grass is blocking him up it could cause alot of damage, not to mention pain.

get him to the vet. They will take x-rays and see where it is caught if he can’t pass it. Those type of decorations can cause damage to the linings of the stomach, and esophagus.

My most wanted list: carnelian mouse wizard, copper patina frog wizard, autumn leaf poads, pumpkin spice kitties

It just happened about 2 hours ago. He has eaten and drank since but not sure about the litter yet since I have two cats. I had already called my friend that worked for years with a vet. She said to make sure he eats and drink and it was best if he trows it out of his system by himself. If he stops eating or the bleeding gets worst then take him over to see a vet.
Problem is that the vets here are closed till tuesday.

Well as I was typing this message he just zoomed by chasing Sienna (other cat) 😕 .
He seems fine one minute then the next he is sick.

Well, take the advice from friend. It’s bad that there are no emergency vets around you. He might be alright. Just keep an eye on him, if he starts eating everything (and I mean anything that he can) and if he hasn’t used the litter box then get him to a vet right away. That means that he is blocked up….

Did the plant have long string like leaves?

Don’t panic. He might pass it by himself. I’m keeping my fingers crossed.

I hope Raven is ok, he’s a gorgeous cat. I’ve had to give up Easter grass and Christmas tree tinsel cause of my two cats trying to eat everything.

I’ve been googling things and you might want to call an emergencey vet and ask about a pet laxative-PetLax was one that came up-to help him pass the stuff he ate and not get a blockage.

                    Thanks guys!
I’ll keep an eye on him.
                    I hope it passes.
This is my son’s cat and if something bad would happen to him, he would be very upset!

You can pick up Laxatone at any chain pet store. It can help.

But your friend is right. Keep an eye on him, make sure he’s eating and drinking. A small amount of blood isn’t too much cause for concern, but make sure it’s never really more than a streak or so. Stomach acids are pretty tough stuff, so if it was just dry grass, I’d be surprised if it doesn’t just pass.

Sick cats won’t eat or drink as an almost universal rule.

It will probably pass on its own, just watch him.

Do keep an eye on him. Cats hate to admit that they’re sick, and they’ll try to hide it from you. Make sure he really is eating and drinking, and watch for more vomiting. If you can monitor his temperature too, that would be really good. Pick up a digital rectal thermometer at the store. Take a permanent marker and label it “CAT” (You’ll be glad later that you did. Believe me). Put some petroleum jelly on the thermometer when you go to take his temperature, and it’s a good idea to have someone helping you hold him (big beach towels are nice for keeping claws contained). Kitty normal temperature ranges from 100.5 to 102.5 F; a cat who’s lying around not doing much and still has a temperature over 102 is questionable though. If his temp climbs above normal, call an emergency vet for advice.

                      Good luck!

                        Update on Raven

He did not pass anything yet but he is not blocked since he does go in the litter box. I have not seen him sick ever since the first day. So maybe he’ll be fine.
