I live only an hour from Cape Canaveral, and my fiance and I decided to take the inflatable kayak he got for his birthday a week ago out into the Indian River (it’s the Intercoastal) to an island to watch it go up. First it was fun getting out to the island; about 1/2 mile with dolphins jumping around us! Then, this was our view:
This is about as close as the public can get. I just though folk might enjoy the pics, sorry my camera isn’t the greatest and doesn’t have a good zoom.
Then, the contrail from the launch made some REALLY cool cloud formations!
See the dragon?
And a heart, how romantic.
Wish the guys on that flight alot of luck, If you haven’t already heard they’ve had a minor bit of bad, which could be a big problem for them on re-entry
Awesome pics. I really hope it doesn’t turn out like the shuttle (Columbia?)that had the teacher/teachers on it. I remember sitting in school and watching that on the TV. I was shocked. Of course I have some more info on that, but I won’t go into it here.

PLease share, we don’t get any news unless its serious over here
It was the Challenger that exploded with the teacher (Christa McAuliffe) on it. Columbia had the Israeli astronaut. As for what went wrong this time a thermal blanket peeled back during Atlantis’ launch. They are extending the shuttle’s mission for repairs.
