Lovely collections! I enjoy seeing all the photos.
March 6, 2015 at 12:12 am #926457Amstaff, it is awesome that you keep such careful records of your collection! I’m sure many people have wished that they had started that habit in the beginning of their collecting. I’ve got a collection program for my model horses, and I’ve modified part of it to put in my Windstones. I know others keep sheets with all that info plus a photo in a three ring binder. When it comes to insuring your collection, or even making it easier on family should something happen to you, record keeping is not crazy! If your collection has grown to that size after less than a year, I’m sure you will come to appreciate your record keeping years from now!
Love baby kirins, safari poads, mini keepers, and anything BLUE, BLUE, and, oh yes, BLUE.
March 6, 2015 at 2:00 am #926460That is a good idea to keep records. Sometimes I can’t remember what I paid for something I want to trade or sell so have to go back and look up old messages and e-mails to find that info. So I should start keeping records of everything too. If you keep checking ebay and the classifieds I am sure you would be able to find the other kirins. I got a brown baby kirin off ebay after watching auctions for a while. It took me a year and a half to find a couple pieces I really wanted like a rainbow fledgling from ebay so patience is the key.
Looking for rainbow or pink & teal grab bags!

March 6, 2015 at 5:11 pm #926492Very nice collection, Amstaff. And very well displayed! I started a collection list but have neglected it of late. You make me want to update it LOL. Thanks for the photos
March 7, 2015 at 10:31 pm #926520Wow, some of the collections I see on here are absolutley amazing !! All the beautiful pieces !! Makes my collection look very meager and plain…. oh well, thought I would share anyways 🙂
I absolutely love that baby uni!
March 8, 2015 at 3:29 am #926529Does anyone else keep a working Windstone list, that they add to and subtract from, of the pieces they own, or am I the only crazy one that does this?
Now I do… I shamelessly copied another member and created an Excel sheet! I have a tab for PYO on which I note my ideas for future painting 🙂
Read my books! Volume 1 and 2 of A Dragon Medley are available now.

I host the feedback lists, which are maintained by drag0nfeathers.
http://www.sarahjestin.com/feedbacklists.htmMarch 8, 2015 at 4:31 am #926535Amstaff-I like your snowy white unicorns too! I don’t recall seeing photos of them in people’s collections and I’ve been wanting to see some non-store photos of them. I thought about selling off my old white unicorns in favor of the snow white ones. And yes, etruscan put it perfectly-carefully curated 🙂
Kim-I do the same thing *shifty eyes* I’m a nerd and love spreadsheets so I have an excel book. One tab is for things I bought and currently own, another is for things I’ve sold or traded (and who I traded it with or sold it to, the date, and if it was a trade, the value of the item I traded for) and another tab that takes what I own and subtracts from that how much I’ve sold and calculates how much I’ve spent since I started collecting in 2006. I used to keep everything written on a simple sheet of paper when I had 40 and fewer pieces and recently found that sheet so now I can go back and add in the first pieces I bought way back when. I sold a big chunk of my collection in 2011 to go buy an old car. All my greens, whites, rubies, peacocks and a few special pieces all found new homes.
Not to derail the topic but what was everyone’s first Windstone? I admired Melody’s work since maybe 1998 but didn’t buy my first one until 2006. It was 2 green male dragons, a green mother and green baby for $120 with shipping. They’ve all since found new homes but I’ll always remember them :)They were the only ones I could afford at the time.
March 8, 2015 at 5:01 am #926537First Windstone.. what an interesting question! I think my FIRST Windstone was actually a PYO. When I began collecting, I had stumbled on the site after vaguely recollecting the name “M Pena” from my childhood (I would stare at the Dragons in the window of a local shop! But that’s another story entirely).
In any case, I remember finding the website and being absolutely THRILLED that they had Paint Your Own Windstones, and at such an affordable price! Being an artist, it was like a dream to see. However, at that time they were out of everything but Griffins and Small Dragons (I recall it took me months to get my hands on a Keeper!), so technically I think those were my first Windstones.
However, my first piece that was not a PYO was, I believe, an Old Brown Male Dragon (whom I still have!) and who started my love for the Male Dragon sculpt in general 🙂
As far as my collection goes.. I will be moving this summer and have been holding off from taking pictures until I have them all moved into their new home.. but I may be tempted to take some pictures before then, since it will be July or August before all of the moving is complete!
Commission spots are currently closed! Please message me for details.
Please visit My Webpage to see my art and PYO's that I've done in the past!March 8, 2015 at 8:59 am #926542my first Windstone was a Wizard Cat Candle Lamp, she was the only one I could afford on my tiny Blockbuster pay at the time in a small store at the mall called Wicks and Sticks, I think she was like $50 way back then…she’s still with me too….
4 things I'm looking for:
1. Mother Meerkat
2. production color Sitting Young Oriental dragons to be made in more colors besides VF, Brimstone would be awesome!
3. Female Griffin – Siamese with White
4. September Raffle Prize 2022 AHD Male GriffinMarch 8, 2015 at 10:19 am #926545Hannah it would be cool to see your collection! My first Windstone was a peacock fledgling from my local gift store in 1997 or 1998 I think and then I got a peacock young dragon. I didn’t get any other Windstones until I found them on ebay and I found this website just over two years ago.
Looking for rainbow or pink & teal grab bags!
March 8, 2015 at 11:11 am #926546I am another one who admired Windstones forever but never purchased any until relatively recently. I used to travel a lot and never had the room for the big dragons. My first purchase was a PYO I commissioned off eBay, which brought me to this website. And that’s when I realized there are little dragons, too! My first purchase from the Windstone store was a pink Curlie. 🙂
Lovely collections, everyone! Thanks for sharing photos.
March 10, 2015 at 1:30 am #926574I can’t remember how I first found Windstones. Perhaps I was searching for dragon sculptures on ebay. My first purchase was a small winged spirit wolf, but he took a long, long time to get shipped to me, so the first Windstone I actually had in my hands was my prototype green hatcher. Lucky find, that one! I didn’t even know he was special until years later. 🙂
I still have both of those pieces, too.
March 10, 2015 at 1:55 am #926576Which one is the prototype, Stephanie? Is she in your signature photo?
