I would like to order a Scimitar Sword from the US and get it shipped USPS to Canada. Do any of you know if it will get through the customs or will it be denied since it could be concidered as a weapon? Did any of you have had the experience?
January 22, 2008 at 1:59 am #658413My brother ordered an ornamental dagger and Oriental swords online from the US to Canada and I don’t recall him saying he had any problems. But that was a while back, though. He got the sword from Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon…
I would check the online stores and see if it says anything about this in their shipping section. You could also try the gov. website…
Read my books! Volume 1 and 2 of A Dragon Medley are available now.

That’s what I did and it got through ok. 🙂
Most decorative items get through okay.
But this day and age.. who knows. 🙄

umm… *shifty eyes*… nothing!
and for the rest of your, erm, sentence… Yes, the customs agents will go through your vehicle or person if they deem it necessary.
January 22, 2008 at 2:17 am #658417From the dangerous goods act:
Quote:(2) Items that, because of the manner in which they are packed, may expose a person to danger or may damage mail or postal equipment.
7. Replica or inert munitions, as well as other devices that simulate explosive devices or munitions, including replica or inert grenades or other simulated military munitions, whether or not such items are for display purposes.
http://lois.justice.gc.ca/en/C-10/SOR-90-10/text.htmlWell, I’d say as long as it is packed very well, it would be okay.
Now, if it was some other kind of weapon it’d be a different story.

Letter opener 😯 That would be one…of a huge one! That would never do.
I’ll call the customs and see.Thank you Romeodanny for the info.
January 22, 2008 at 3:31 am #658419I’ve order my share of weapons from the US and I’ve never had a problem. We have all the swords from Lord of the Rings and they are all sharp. I’ve also ordered KitRae swords, battleaxes, daggers…never a problem. I actually bought a sword for my bf this past Christmas, and it was sharpened and 3 feet long. Just make sure it’s packed well and that the declaration paperwork is the truth.
January 22, 2008 at 8:24 am #658420Actually you can probably get more stuff in Canada than here in California. I’ve been wanting this whipsword for a long time now, but it can’t be shipped to California. A real bummer.
I would help but I am just to tired to get out of bed today~
