November 18, 2009 at 7:16 am #792425What lamorte said. I love your robes.

Yes I did make our outfits. π Two friends made the gloves for me though; one did the embroidery and the other sewed the gloves together.
November 18, 2009 at 2:52 pm #792428I had to go back and look at the gloves. Wonderful!

I actually gave that pair of gloves away; in the SCA it is a highly coveted award to get a Queen’s Glove so they were made especially for that. If you look the design is sorta backwards; thats because it is meant to be folded in half & hung from a belt. Here is a picture of one of the ladies that I gave one of my gloves to & you can see it on her belt with the design showing correctly:
I was gifted with another pair for my personal use; this time you can see the design is upright when I would be wearing them. My name in the SCA is ‘Elizabeta’ so that is where the ‘E’ comes from.
November 19, 2009 at 4:48 am #792430I must say that since joining this forum earlier this year I have been to exposed to incredible talent! Crimson, your costumes are awesome–words just can’t describe them. I’ve made belly dance costumes in a life long ago, but they’re nothing compared to what I see on your website! If I should ever have an event to go to that I want to look incredible, I’ll be contacting you.
Also, I never heard of the SCA–looks interesting but I probably couldn’t keep up with all the costuming and such–would get rather expensive for me. But it is interesting to see what various forum members are into.
Thanks all for broadening my horizons! π
November 19, 2009 at 8:05 pm #792431Glad everyone likes them! π I’m excited to get back to sewing; I’ve really been to busy this year with Queen stuff (it was ALOT of work!) to do much of it. I have lots of fabric, now I just have to figure out what to make with it! :p
SCA costuming can be very expensive; I unfortunately have developed a taste for the fancy outfits (not really a surprise) so yeah. Expensive. π

Heehee; I call them ‘Friesiacorns’. π I was very specific about how the unicorn needed to look when representing me; no skinny goat like ones for me!
lol, that’s great! π I love Friesians as well, the most wonderful horses I’ve had the pleasure of working with :).
December 2, 2009 at 7:30 pm #792433Hey, I just realised that I may have a pic of you from Dragoncon one year. It is the same as one of the pics you have in your footer. The one with wings. Small world. π
While hiding somewhere in my head I'm on the lookout for white oriental dragons! Please let me know if you know of any available. Thank you!

Too funny! I’d love to see it! π I missed DragonCon this year but already have my rooms booked for next year!
December 3, 2009 at 2:18 pm #792435Will you be posting your latest work anytime soon Crimson? π

Sure! I haven’t done anything recently as I’ve been so busy with the remaining SCA stuff I needed to do and the holidays. This weekend is my first weekend home since early September & I get the majority of my work done on weekends since I have a full time job as well (I work for a Defense contractor).
I have a few things on my plate; Jasmine’s raffle win gown (Gothic Tower gown from Moulin Rouge), a commission for Susan’s gown from Prince Caspian, an SCA outfit for a friend & the beginnings of a victorian wedding gown for March delivery. Lots to do but I’m excited to get back to sewing!
I’ve also just figured out what I want to do with 15 yards of teal silk taffeta I bought myself a few months ago; I have a rule against buying fabric if I don’t already have something planned for it but I had to get this fabric as it was on sale for the ridiculously low price of $6 per yard (usually around $20 a yard!) and it was TEAL SILK TAFFETA! (I luff teal) Anyways; I just found the portrait yesterday & I am in love so this will be made for myself. Thinking about changing the gold accents to silver though; I’ve never been a ‘gold’ person:
Small pic & link to a BIG version of it (which looks a little more blue than teal on my comp) http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2670/4154936459_4dfb94c004_o.jpg
Question for you all. Should I post here (Community) or in the ‘General Art Discussion’ when I have something to share?
