EDIT 3: These did not sell on Ebay so I am taking offers. PM me!
EDIT 2: Moved to eBay.
EDIT: Okay so I do indeed only have 10. They are the following:
DragonFate
DragonInferno
DragonFury
DragonDoom
DragonWind
DragonStorm (loose jewel, needs to be reglued)
DragonFire
DragonDream
DragonLair
DragonTideAll of these are in great condition it’s just the DragonStorm one (orange guy) has a loose “diamond” it needs to be reglued but I will not do that myself. π
So sadly it’s not complete but I’m hoping someone will trade for them.
Here are pics though!
All the domes were removed for the pictures so you could see the dragons better. The domes are all in tact no chips, cracks, etc. They are just boring glass domes, really. LOL
π Is anyone a fan of Michael Whelan? (I hoped I spelled that right.) I have a collection of his domed dragons, about 10 of them I think. I’m pretty sure this collection is complete though I am not 100% positive. I am looking to trade these for a Windstone. I would be interested in any mother dragons (any color), male dragons (any color), or a lap dragon. (Any color.) If you have none of these or something else you’d be interested in trading, just let me know. The domes are in excellent condition so I would expect the trade to be as such.
PM me if interested or of course you can ask questions right here. π
Thanks for reading!

There were 12 in the set, and there was a hanging display rack you could get that held three rows of four dragons each.
If your set is not complete there are people selling them individually so it should be possible for whoever trades with you to finish the set.
If you do have a full set, I’d offer a brand new Gold Male Dragon in trade.
August 24, 2009 at 4:41 pm #779983I have all 12 of these domed ones but already have my Golds complete. A Gold Male does not sound even CLOSE to the value though. These where $29.95 each plus shipping and tax. $29.95 + like $10 each for shipping and tax if I remember correctly is like $479.40 so I think (at least to me) that they would be worth more like an Emperor then a male, AND that would STILL be a deal!!
Correct me if I’m wrong but I also thought that a FULL collection was worth more then the parts added together. I have not been on e-bay that much lately but I do not remember seeing that many of these lately when I have bene on there. The ones I had seen seemed to be still selling for about $20
I also have all 7 of the small Michael Whelan Mini, I think they called them, Dragons. I had all 6 but was putting up shelves in my last apt and the FM shelf came off one of the nails and all 6 crashed to the floor in a sliding mess that made me CRY!!
I found the entire set on e-bay and was surprised to find out they also made a GOLD one that you could ONLY get if you ordered the entire collection so that one must have gotten by me some how the first time around.
I could possible consider a trade for the domed ones but not for a male sorry it would have to be one of the Emperor’s I’m missing like Fire, EmPea or Silver, prefer Fire with that color pending retirementAugust 24, 2009 at 5:37 pm #779984Dragon Master wrote:I have all 12 of these domed ones but already have my Golds complete. That’s OK. I offered a Gold Male because it was originally on the list of wants, and I had one spare. I have no personal interest in the trade – I just figured a set of Whelan Dragons would look good on the shelves in my store.

This is a debatable point, but usually a “full set” of something goes for less than the sum of the individual components.
Someone looking for a particular individual item (perhaps to complete a set) is usually willing to pay proportionately more for that item. If some items in a collection are harder to acquire than others, they would individually sell for more than the others, and perhaps someone would be willing to buy the entire set just to get the harder-to-find aspects of it, with perhaps a view to recouping part of the cost by re-selling the unwanted parts.
Also, buyers usually expect a “discount” for purchasing an entire set of something, and the seller is often willing to give the discount in order to make a single substantial sale rather than a series of smaller sales that may result in some items remaining unsold.
This may not be obvious in the context of eBay auctions, but because the people who would bid high for certain parts of the collection are not likely to be willing to bid high for the entire collection, and because the people who are wanting the entire collection expect to walk out with a good deal, the final selling price of a complete collection is likely to be less that the sum of average sales for other auctions for each of the individual items.
August 24, 2009 at 6:01 pm #779985Well it’s on eBay, so I’ll take when I can get for it.
To be honest I have no idea why I never completed the set! πI thought Dave made a very generous offer with the gold dragon for a complete set, but alas, I don’t have a complete set. π So I’ll just sell the 10 I have and use the money towards another Windstone of the future! π

These guys didn’t sell.
Is anyone willing simply to buy these?
Name your own price, send me offers. I don’t expect a lot for them, I just want to get rid of them, otherwise I don’t know what to do with them.
I need to clear out older, less desired collections for Windstones.
