This year for Christmas my wife, Linda, is getting me a couple of music CDs that I gave to her to give to me, and my son is getting me a movie that I got for him to give to me. This way I know I’ll be getting exactly the things I want.
Some years ago my wife bought me an iPod. It sat on the shelf doing nothing for a year before I thought to give it to her as a Christmas present. Over the next couple of years she wore it out. It was probably the best and most useful gift I’ve ever thought to give her.
It’s not that Linda doesn’t tell me what she wants during the year; it’s that by the time I find a pencil and paper I’ve forgotten what it was.
This year she sent me a specific link to a specific website where there were items reserved for her. All I had to do was click and order them. This was just after Thanksgiving. Now I learn, in response to my asking the vendor where my package is, that one item was back-ordered so they didn’t bother to ship anything at all.
This year, then, my wife is getting a Maya Hill candlelamp. I’ve always wanted a Maya Hill candlelamp.

December 25, 2009 at 4:15 am #797366You could always send us the Wii. Last year, my dad went out of his way to call us and made a big deal about getting a Wii for he and my step-mom, saying they went to Target but they were only doing a “one per family” thing. Well they convinced them to sell them 2 Wiis as they were going to send one to Ruth my grandmother for the bowling and other stuff she liked to do but can’t do anymore because she’s gotten too old. Now a little back story, I have ALWAYS been the gaming freak in the family, still am, but haven’t really had the $$ to break down and get a new system (I live nicely with my old PS2). My step-mom has always HATED video games, saying they were the Devil’s playtoys. So now my dad tells me they got 2!! Wiis when they’re impossible to find, on for them, and one for my grandma. My heart drops… He goes on to say that they gave it to Ruth and she didn’t really want it….*heart in my throat, ZOMG we’re getting a Wii!!!* I tried to sound calm while saying “Oh? Really?”….a long pause….”Ya we were thinking of sending it to you…but then Ruth’s new bf set it up and she thought it was really fun so she kept it”
I swear I could have killed my dad……>.<
Anyway, I’m lucky that Louis is so thoughtfull and attentive, we’re usualy pretty good about getting stuff for eachother that we like and use, though we do a lot of “should we get this for us” shopping we have been known to do well surprising eachother.
Crimson, you know those Wii controllers are called “nunchucks” right? Heh Heh Heh well you can see where my mind is going but….. My recomendation, get your Yoga game, and when you’re not using the Wii, hide all the controllers =P. I’d actualy look into the system tho, there is a lot of cool stuff you can do on the Wii besides the traditional video games, Nintendo was really good about marketing this thing for all sorts of people, not just the hard core gamers.
December 25, 2009 at 5:34 am #797367AnonymousShort all the batteries in the controllers when he’s not around so they constantly die. Maybe he’ll take it back.

Well! *laughs* It was funny, but it also reminded me of the times I got nothing at all and would have been happy with either. It took me a long time to figure out I should go for higher caliber men. Not so much money wise, but thoughtful wise.
OMG—a shotgun from an ex! 😮 😆 Man oh man, talk about a death wish!!! 😆 There’s a crazy picture in my head—wife expecting diemonds and sees a long, long gift wrapped package with her name on it. ‘Merry christmas hon’ says the husband as she unwraps it. She then uses it immediately–scene slowly fades. XD
XD XD I love that scenario XD

We agreed on no gifts this year because of buying the house. It doesn’t matter how much money I have, I always buy one big thing for Tami. One year it was a new computer, another year it was getting her car fixed .. whatever. I spend way more money on myself and it’s the one time out of the three times a year you can be UNselfish.
We’ll open presents tonight and she’ll see nothing for her and she’ll expect it, then I’ll stand her up, whisper in her ear and tell her her present has been right in front of her for the last two weeks … hanging on a ribbon in the tree … the mate ring to the other side of her wedding band.
Of course I’ll get yelled at for buying something in between tears but that’s how it goes. 😛
Oh, and as to the Wii? At the minimum I’d go out and buy the Yoga disc, if not pack the thing up back in the box. That is so overbound I don’t know what to say, other than I’m glad I was raised better.
How sweet. Are there manymmore out there like you? I have a thoughtful husband this time.He is still rough around the edges but I’m working on it. 😀Every act matters. No matter how small💞
