Well, looks like I’m in the market for a new scanner, my all-in-one won’t scan with Mac OS 10.6. I haven’t been for quite some time, so I’m curious what those of you who deal in real media 2d art prefer.
May 9, 2010 at 4:51 am #814449We have a Epson, but since I use my camera for photos, I have not tried it out.
May 9, 2010 at 3:23 pm #814450I’ve been very happy with my Epson as well.

Hibbary told me a while ago that when she looked, the Epson was the best budget scanner/printer for art. But that was a few years ago.
I know only a year or so ago, pophotography was listing Epson as one of the better ones for home photographers.May 9, 2010 at 5:37 pm #814452i am in fact struggling with my Canon scanner at this very moment. 🙄 🙄 sounds like epson is the way to go on this.
May 9, 2010 at 6:52 pm #814453I love my canon scanner.. and my canon printer
I hate epson.. the ones i’ve had don’t work consistently.. and the ink costs more than a new car..eeek :puke:May 9, 2010 at 7:12 pm #814454I’ve never owned one, so this is all good to hear. I’ve thought about it, but haven’t yet, so thanks for the input! (Even though it wasn’t directed to me. 😳 )
May 9, 2010 at 7:51 pm #814455I was looking at an Epson V30, so I think I might go that route. It sucks that HP won’t update their drivers for Snow Leopard (and that Snow Leopard is different enough that the old drivers won’t work with it).
Frozen – I have an Epson SP1400 printer that I got for Christmas a couple years ago. I loves it. All my prints look like they came from a lab.
May 10, 2010 at 4:17 am #814456For quality in printers you cannot beat epson. All of the high end giclee printers out there prefer epson for a good reason. But if you want a lasting printer you have to go with a high end model, and I am talking one of their #1k+ models. For serious artists that want to do their own printing, it’s the way to go. Inks are expensive but they cannot be beat.
For casual home printing.. yeah, don’t go with epson.
My scanner doesn’t use ink and so I’ve been very happy with it. XD XD

Doesn’t use ink?… 😮 …Now, I am confused! :scratch:May 11, 2010 at 3:00 pm #814458Oh! I was just being silly. A stand-alone scanner only scans things, it doesn’t print!
I know there are all-in-one units that also print, but my scanner is just a scanner and it scans and scans but only scans. XD

We have an all-in-one epson. An older model but it still works fine (Epson RX600). We are however looking to get a new one that prints, scans and does faxes as well. We’ll just sell the one we have now.
May 21, 2010 at 5:33 pm #814460I have an epson 2580 photo and love it, it works fine with mac too (running 10.6) and I have a Epson Photo 1400 printer that is amazing and can do prints up to like 17″ X 17″ or something huge. The only complaint I have about the scanner is it doesn’t really like watercolors for some reason lol all other art scans fine, but I’m sure if I played with the settings I could fix it.
May 21, 2010 at 6:07 pm #814461Like Koishii, I have a scanner but never use it since I always take pics of the art with my SLR.
