That Laptop prank was awesome! A lot of effort and money, but still, hilarious and it was nice to see his forum encouraging and helping him along.
June 12, 2009 at 5:09 pm #768868UPDATE ON SCAMMER: My scammer is getting very anxious that I did not ship the PC yesterday, and as I said earlier, I had sent an inquiry asking how he wanted it shipped, and that I had to wait until my room-mate, Frawda, came home to check her email for the “payment”. So this morning, I had an email from him that was as follows:
“hello michele…i mail paypal…this morn they told me that their have get to you but waiting for your reply so do make this fast or are try to play on me…
regard smith”
I replied back, saying I didn’t understand what he meant, that I had sent him a note explaining I had to wait for my room-mate to get home and I needed to know how he wanted it shipped, so he sent another impatient note saying it’s been over a day now, that I should have an email from Paypal by now, and again emailed me the address in Nigeria to ship to. I sent back a reply that I know that he paid, but he still has not told me how he wants it shipped.
I am trying to get ahold of customs, because I am curious if there is a tax on declared value of shipments coming in to the country, and if so, I have mocked up a “Fujitsu Ultra Mobile Tablet PC” that I am really tempted to send to that address, as the prank shown on the link Snap provided. I do not have a way to post pictures here, but if somebody does, please pm me with their email, I could send the pictures to your email, and if you could post pictures of my “PC” on this thread, that would be great! squeek*June 13, 2009 at 2:09 am #768869BUMP đź‘ż
June 13, 2009 at 2:57 am #768870Please be careful, 49ER; that link from Snap had a not-too-happy ending.
June 13, 2009 at 2:59 am #768871you mean about the virus? I’ll just have to delete my email. And the other email was a fake one anyway so I could delete that one too.
June 13, 2009 at 3:00 am #768872No, I mean about how he was never heard from again.
June 13, 2009 at 3:04 am #768873well, that I don’t know about, but what he did was advertised all over the place, apparantly, including getting donations, and my thing is not that sophisticated. I just hate that NOBODY can seem to shut these guys down, even Paypal can only at best, shut down the domain that these fake payments came from, but there are thousands more where that came from. đź‘ż
June 13, 2009 at 3:07 am #768874It’s hard to shut down because it’s on an international level. Individual organizations can only do so much.
June 13, 2009 at 3:13 am #768875well, Craigslist won’t even take any reports of any abuses on their site, at all. I emailed him to tell him that FEDEX would not ship the package so I have to take it to Post Office next week, so it is unlikely I will be able to keep dialogue going with him that long without him getting suspicious that I am on to him, and playing him, since he already thinks so. So I will probably let him know that I am on to him, and have reported him to law enforcement, and hope he ends up in a “stupid criminal” book someday, for sending a fake payment to “Frawda Lurt”. XD XD XD
June 13, 2009 at 4:33 am #768876That’s one of the reasons there is so much deception and fraud on Craigslist. It’s good of you to discontinue this dialogue if it looks like it’s going to drag out.

June 14, 2009 at 7:48 am #768878It’s almost sad the scammers are unaware of the true amusement of the name “Frawda Lurt”. Ah, maybe someday in the future, they will be sitting in their bathroom, and say it out loud, and the light bulb will go on over their heads.
June 14, 2009 at 6:45 pm #768879I’m hoping they realize it when they are in prison, and they read about themselves in one of those “World’s Dumbest Criminals” books. XD XD XD
Actually, tomorrow, I will email him and tell him the game is over, and I have sent all his emails to law enforcement and Paypal, and maybe I may tell him that he was so greedy, that he failed to notice how my “room-mate’s” name was pronounced. XD XD XDJune 15, 2009 at 4:54 am #768880Congrats on ending it tomorrow! I can’t believe he never figured out your “roommate’s” name!
June 15, 2009 at 10:54 am #768881I wonder if he’ll react at all to that. Sheesh, how some people can live with themselves is beyond me.
