Ruby OWs

I just got my Ruby OW today from a forum member . He is the darker cranberry color. when i was looking him over i noticed his gold spots on his tail DO NOT go all the way up to the wing . They stop midways up. U can tell they were never painted on. LIke he is supposed to be that way ?? or forgotten ?? Hes definately a beauty though !
Anybody else have that on theirs too ????

It’s the same thing with my soon-to-be-going-to-his-new-home Emerald OW, so I guess that must be the pattern.

maybe it’s how older OWs were painted. My ruby OW does not have the gold tail accents all the way up his tail, but my RF OW does have them.
