I have a question. My Ruby Ow is so rich/dark he’s almost a deep red/purple in places. I’ve seen some other Ruby OW’s in pics posted to the site who are much Redder, not nearly as dark. Was there a color variance between a darker Ruby and a lighter Ruby?

Sun Dragon Koi #3April 17, 2008 at 8:00 pm #691041You know, now that you mention it, my Ruby Old Warrior is pretty dark, too. It doesn’t look like the Ruby Old Warrior pictured in Astral Castle’s encyclopedia. Mine also has purple on it.
April 17, 2008 at 8:26 pm #691042I like mine better than the lighter redder color. That’s why I was wondering.

Hey! This is my 1000th question!
You have an old ruby. We switched paints. We did that because the old paint was unstable and we found that if we didn’t cure it properly it could fade. The older ones are sometimes very deep dark almost maroon red, the newer ones are a slightly less passionate, lighter red. I liked the old ones best.April 17, 2008 at 9:43 pm #691045Lol….I have an old ruby fledgling…I’d nicknamed him “black cherry”…lol
April 18, 2008 at 2:18 am #691046I’ve got a scratcher that is REALLY dark…I guess he must be one of the older ones too.
My most wanted list: carnelian mouse wizard, copper patina frog wizard, autumn leaf poads, pumpkin spice kitties

What is dark ruby? I always thought my emperor was dark. My lap is pretty dark too. At least, compared to my scratching. My young and fledgling are darkish too. …..hmmmm…..

Wolfen has a fledge that’s really, really dark like purplecat describes. The dark red is cute on the little guy, but it’s too uniform for a big sculpt, I think.April 18, 2008 at 7:41 pm #691053Melody wrote:Hey! This is my 1000th question!

Well, cool about my Ruby, he is wonderful. Fortunately my living room is a very dark place, stained wood with windows that let in light but not enough to make it a bright room ever. My Ruby OW is in a case out of direct light and my lighting in the living room is a set of very old chandeliers with light bulbs in frosted glass covers, so no fluorescents to shine on him. Mine is almost a marron red in places, he’s very dark.Looking for Blue Fawn Baby Kirin
