Hi Melody, could you please give me some information on the red (ruby???) dragons with red eyes. I have a lap, fledgling and hatching dragon.
December 5, 2011 at 4:49 am #864454What sort of info were you looking for?
I know they’re a discontinued color that was discontinued because the paint is highly susceptible to fading if left in the sun.
December 5, 2011 at 4:53 am #864456I’m not really sure what I was looking for….. I couldn’t really find any information on them at all. I guess I was seeing how much they might be worth as I am having to sell the little collection that I have.
December 5, 2011 at 5:01 am #864457Well, that is highly dependent on the condition they are in.
Are they damaged at all? (And be very thorough when checking. Folks around here know their stuff 😉 )
Do they still have their hang tags or original boxes?
Are they sun damaged at all?December 5, 2011 at 5:05 am #864458Here’s a page that can help you:

Just type Ruby into the search, and have the search set to ALL. That should give you info for all the dragons you have in Ruby. Just click the name to see past sale prices.
December 5, 2011 at 5:28 am #864460They are in very good condition, with tags attached. Unfortunately no boxes as I was collecting them for enjoyment and not as an investment. I don’t see any sun damage at all.

December 5, 2011 at 5:39 am #864464Sure thing. Welcome to the forum 🙂

isn’t it only the Red Fire that does that?
I have one Ruby and one Red Fire mother, the ruby has red eyes and the red fire has orange…..4 things I'm looking for:
1. Mother Meerkat
2. production color Sitting Young Oriental dragons to be made in more colors besides VF, Brimstone would be awesome!
3. Female Griffin – Siamese with White
4. September Raffle Prize 2022 AHD Male GriffinDecember 6, 2011 at 5:07 am #864630Nope, some ruby dragons had problems fading as well.
December 6, 2011 at 5:22 am #864631I think all the reds will fade in sunlight. I know the red paint has to be “stabilized”, but I thought that was only to keep it from bleeding.
December 7, 2011 at 1:03 am #864726hmm, ah, never saw a faded ruby in a store back in the day but okay…..

I remember reading a post where the paint had bubbled up and ran in places, another time the paint turned bizarre colors, they fade. They are more sensitive to heat, and the paint will become softer in lower “hot” temperatures that other paint colorations, so if you ship one in the summer you need to let it acclimate to the indoor temperature before you even think about opening that box. The paint also tends to pool at the bottom of some of them over time.
But they are incredible. The color is amazing.

Sun Dragon Koi #3December 7, 2011 at 2:00 am #864746ah, I’m not sure how old my ruby is but she looks good still, she wasn’t put in any sunlight…
my red fire though, she was in a low direct sunlight store front so she’s lightly a two face, she’s not like a line down the middle but she’s brighter on the side that didn’t face the sun…wish Lady of the Lake had known better….
