Nessiemom has commissioned me to do 2 wolves for her in the likenesses of her dogs, Rosie and Ness. I have *finally* finished Rosie. She is base coated in white, then pastelled. I have progress pics, but have to upload them. I started in an ivory and then just layered and layered gradually adding darker colors until I got the golden browns to match Rosie’s. Then I tackled the blacks. I think it took about 7 layers of black to get it where it is. I tried a little barring on the wings and then sealed her up. Nessie is next…
Pasteling is soooo time consuming! I don’t know how you have the patience. About how long did this sculpt take, out of curiosity?
Looks wonderful. And so soft too.
I have no idea how long it took. If I just sat down to do it until it was done, maybe 40-50 hours. It’s all the drying time that makes it tedious. I prefer to pastel because I suck w/ acrylics  and blending w/ them is a PITA. Pastels are so much easier for me. Plus, the finished product to me looks softer which is great for furred critters…
