Some of you may remember the topic from back in June when I found a tiny cat, I did everything I could think of to find her pet parents. The vet said she had a chip so I tried to get any info from that group as to her parents but they did not have anything on file for her as owned by anyone. I got her shots had her checked out and was told she was healthy but just a small cat.
Well I HOPE to God that i did not kill my cat. My heater does not work that great in this place and as an owner it’s on my shoulders to get the heater fixed or relaced neither of which I can do at present and so far things have been going well. This was going to be her first winter in my family. It has been getting cold at night like 40 or so and I have a feeling she might have frozen to death which makes me feel HORRIBLE. Everyone I have talked to so far has told me it’s not my fault I was trying to do a good thing and if it was not for me taking her in I KNOW she would have frozen to death by now anyway with how cold it has been, or been run over since she was not tha fast to get out of the way of a car, if she was trying to survive on her own.
I have only had one other pet that has died and she passed away from old age, she was the fafmily dog growing up.
I can actually feel heat now so I hope there was enough over the weekend for her. My other 4 cats are MUCH bulkier and I KNOW they can survive some cold. I still feel REALLLLLL bad that I could have done something else but I don’t know whatThanks for listening

Sorry I forgot to mentionWhen I got home she was dead lying next to my bed. I have now idea how long it had been she was all stiff and the part I doubt I will ever forget is her eyes where still open looking into my soul. Not sure if she was saying thank you for trying or damn you for not much heat. I thought I heard some gurgling in her stomach but she had passed during the night some time. So yes she is gone since I had the GRAVE discovery of her body this morning.
I had never even gotten any pictures of her
When I found her I thought she was about 2-3 months old the vet said about 4-5 months but we found out she was actually 2 years old so that tells you how tiny she was.
My others cats are like 14 to 15 pounds I think she was like 6 skin and bones even after 4 months of GREAT nutrituonal cat food any time she wanted or needed itthank you for the thought but she is gone
November 17, 2009 at 6:13 pm #793192Very sorry to hear she didn’t make it. You tried to do the right thing.
November 17, 2009 at 6:22 pm #793193Then she probably wouldn’t have made it, no matter what. You did everything you could, so I’m sure her eyes were thanking you for giving her a nice place to live out her days. Hugs!

http://www.sarahjestin.com/feedbacklists.htmNovember 17, 2009 at 6:37 pm #793194*hugs* I’m so sorry to hear that DM. I doubt if she froze to death; 40 degrees isn’t freezing cold and I’m sure your condo is insulated. Cats know how to find a cozy warm spot to sleep in if the temperature dips. My sister’s heater went recently and it was about that cold outside here, too. Her cats were fine, just like your other ones. Maybe Sarabi had an underlying medical problem and that’s why she never gained weight and maybe that’s also why she passed on.
Please don’t regret taking her in and giving her a good home. Whatever time she spent with you, she was much better off than on the streets. She had food, shelter and lots of love. You might not have been able to save her, even if you were right there with her. Don’t beat yourself up with could haves, should haves, would haves. She had a good life with you and you were a good person for taking her in. I’m quite sure she isn’t damning you, so don’t damn yourself.
November 17, 2009 at 6:57 pm #793195I agree completely with what lamortefille said. You did everything you could to save her, and I have no doubt that when you looked into her eyes for the last time, she was thanking you. <3 Your love has not and will not go unnoticed. Don't put yourself down about it, hon. It wasn't your fault. *Hugs tight*
November 17, 2009 at 7:00 pm #793196I’m not!!!
I know she would not have made it this long with out the food and love she got fom me and you are right cats will find a warm and cozy place to sleep. I think I feel worse that I was not here when it happened to help her cross over if that was to be
I know I did all I couldNovember 17, 2009 at 7:09 pm #793197I can definitely understand how you would feel sad about not being there with her when she passed on. *Hugs tight* This happened with one of our bengal kittens a few years ago. We could tell he wasn’t going to make it, he was a very small newborn. Still we stayed with him around the clock for several days. We had left the room shortly and came back with warm bottle milk to find he was gone. 🙁 That is a very sad feeling, but at least you know you did everything in your power to help. <3
November 17, 2009 at 7:25 pm #793198I have also heard animals know it’s their time and will go off on their own to die alone so maybe there was a reason she waited until I was not at home
November 17, 2009 at 7:27 pm #793199This is true!
