Hackers are starting early in this game.
This may be old news, but I figured I would post and let you rifters know.

I got an email this morning from RIFT stating that “Your account is under investigation”
It said it’s due to that I’m trying to sell it, which is against the rules.

It’s a fake email, and has a link that you click on to “login” and secure your account.
It looks exactly like the RIFT login page, but when click it and try to login, it keylogs whatever you type and that’s how they get your login info.
The fake email might even have legit links, like to the EULA page for example.
It has been going on in WoW for a long time, and I still get emails almost daily with the same scam.

I knew this was a fake by looking at the senders address.
RIFT’s real news letter email address is “DoNotReply@Trionworlds.com” and this one was from “noreply@trionworlds.com” It’s very cleaver, so you gotta watch it.

I have some good news – my computer now has internet again! lol I was stuck for 5 days without the internet on my computer due to a problem with uninstalling some crappy antivirus software. The bad news is that my computer still has issues running the game 🙁 It will still go 5 minutes being laggy and 5 minutes being fine on an infinite loop. I'll still be playing around here and there until I get a new computer (which is finally on the horizon!!) but not too terribly much. Once I get that computer though…. 😀

That’s funny! When me and Hannah were talking about Windstones he was like “Yeah I use to look for them for my X”
That’s pretty crazy.
Is he shy? He won’t get on vent! lol I’ve tried and tried to nudge him on.

Yeah, me and him are both 50 finally. Need to start some expert dungeons.
I tried my 1st today… It didn’t go very well. We wiped about 12 times on IT, and after 3 hours I had to call it cuz I was going somewhere. We were on the last boss too. ( And they say IT is an easy one :~ )
I’m not geared up enough to tank yet, so I’ll stick with DPS for a while.

I was thinking of trying Rift as WOW is getting to be full have @ssh@les who have no tolerance for people who don’t know where every freaking boss is in a dungeon. It’s horrible and then the ganking… so… Can you fill me in on Rift?

Are the characters easy to play? WOW is cool, but having to figure out the attack sequences to get the most damage was hard for me to learn.
Being a total newbie to Rift, would I get flamed?

Is there a trial period like WOW?

In my opinion, Rift was made in such a way that WoW players can understand and catch on to what’s going on very quickly! It has almost all of the exact same hotkeys and shortcuts for defaults as WoW does.

There are four classes in Rift, but amongst these four classes absolutely anything that you liked from WoW is covered! You get to choose between (I think) 8 or 9 different trees when you’re setting up your build, and by level 13 you can re-choose all of those builds to change up your character completely if you wish.

I believe there was a trial period for the game but it may have ended by now, I’m sure they’ll be doing it again in the near future, but they don’t have the option to do a free trial at any point, it’s something they email to everyone who has an account at a set period (IE: You’ll get an email that says next weekend will be a free trial weekend, along with a code you can send to people). I think Apari put his code in this thread so you can give it a try if you’d like! It may still work, I dont know.

It’s definitely easy to play if you’re familiar with WoW, and so far people are much nicer in the game than WoW’s current player base. That’s also one of the main reasons why I left WoW and came to Rift – because I was sick of being a healer in all epic gear in instances and still being brushed off or blamed for things going wrong that weren’t my fault in instances. Once in a while I could handle it, but it was happening EVERY DAY in WoW and I got really sick of it really fast in this expansion. It’s a shame because WoW is really a good game!! It’s the player base that totally ruined it for me.

I’m sure there are already some “elitists” in Rift that will give you a hard time, but not NEARLY as many as are currently in WoW. As time goes on I’m sure people will become somewhat less tolerant of newbies, but this seems to happen in most games. As of right now, the players are pretty forgiving and friendly. During leveling you shouldn’t have to worry about this at all, and by the time you’re high enough to do the dungeons that really matter you should have a pretty good hold on what you’re doing with your character.

ANYWAY that was a wall of text! Sorry! lol! Definitely give Apari’s code a try in case it still works. It’s definitely a fun game and I bet you’d like it 🙂 We are all on Belmont shard (server).
