Okay you know what! I’m not the mod and I’m sorry, but this is just getting ridiculous! If people can afford apparently whatever Windstone they want they can certainly afford to be a bit nicer as well.
Saying things like “good luck with that, because I’m going to bid on it” is our right arrogant and it’s gotten to the point that certain people are rubbing their good fortune in other people’s faces. I’m not saying you’re not “allowed” to do that, but it is in poor taste and I would imagine after some of the posts I read today and some of the slightly snide comments that have been going on the past few weeks in threads here in there… this situation should have been expected EVENTUALLY.
Sometimes people get WAY too competitive and this results in the loser of an auction losing their temper and acting like a spoiled baby who can’t have everything their way. You’re all adults so grow up a little bit. I speak from my own experience because when I was new to the forum, I threw a hissy fit or two over pieces I lost too. Since then I have matured quite a bit and in the end Melody’s beautiful art are nothing more then statues! Chunks of beautiful gypsum! That’s IT! There are MORE IMPORTANT THINGS IN LIFE PEOPLE! Granted, we all love these dragons and griffins and so on and strive to collect them, but they are NOTHING WORTH THIS! They should represent bringing us all together! Not tearing us apart! Grow up and stop trying to “one up” someone just because they won an auction. It’s childish and just speaks of a selfish arrogance that I doubt most here would tolerate.
It’s great that some people are more fortunate then other with money, but acting like a spoiled brat like this over a stupid auction is ridiculous.
Griffinlover, please don’t leave over this! You’ve been here for a long time and I would hate to loose your company. As for everyone else, they are entitled to their opinions and thankfully most of the people on this forum are generally kind hearted and understanding people. I have witnessed so much love and generosity here it’s truly heart warming. Unfortunately there will always be a few people who spoil things for the rest of us, but we always overcome it and we will again.
Wampus, I just say, when you loose your temper because you lost a Windstone auction. Do what I do, be happy with what you DO HAVE because some people are not even lucky enough to be able to buy something from the Limited Production lines in the store. Try to put yourself in their shoes and maybe you will be a little more conscious of how lucky you actually are.
I’ll get fustraited when I am ALWAYS outbid on stuff. I work two jobs and don’t have the kind of money to throw around as some people do around here, (especially now that you seem to have come into money, I can kiss any animal prints good bye apparently, but whatever. It’s fine, I’m not getting mad about it, I just have to work harder if I really want something) Anyway, when I loose an auction I REALLY WANTED, I look in my curio (usually stinking mad out of my mind) and remember, “Look what I actually DO HAVE, it’s a lot more then some people. I have no right to complain” and it helps me a alot. Seriously, it might sound stupid, but it does.
Got a busted Windstone?

Got your phones firmly in hand?* All right, here we go.
I think what we have here is a misunderstanding and beyond that I am not here to judge. I do not believe that Wampus Dragon has any intention to shill bid or bid against someone just to spite them. It was probably just a poorly worded thing, but what I got out of it is this “If we are both bidding on an item I want, either I will win or you will have to outbid me beyond how much I am willing to pay for an item” which is, actually, how eBay works for all of us! Either we win an item or someone else is willing to pay more (disregarding sniping entirely here).
Now, the manner in which she said it might be rude (no disrespect intended, Wampus). That’s the hard thing– when reading text on a screen, we all inject out own attitude into the words and it can be easy to twist them unintentionally. A rude comment can be twisted into an all out drama when it was meant to be something in passing. I know this does not excuse rudeness, but at the same time we need to be careful not to let it snowball out of control either.I am not here to stifle anyone or shut anyone up. People are allowed to dislike each other and I’m not here to hen-peck you guys, any one of you! <3 But please, if you have a problem with someone personally, take it to a personal form of communication. Otherwise make a mental mark of "okay I feel 'this' way about so-and-so, thus I prefer (not to deal with them / to ask them on a date / to show them my emerald peacock hippo)," etc. Yes, reputation has a big influence on how we deal with people, and I am not saying otherwise. BUT! Calling them out in a public forum is encouraging a dogpile… deserved or not, and it's not a good idea! It never results in a positive ending and almost always results in more enemies made and people butting heads and rage-quitting. No good for anyone here. 🙁
So, with all due respect to everyone here, I am going to lock this thread. If you’d like to talk to me, or anyone else in this thread about what was said, PMs are great and so are emails! I welcome them.
After everyone has had a chance to see my words and hopefully ponder them, I will likely remove this. I am not trying to ‘shut anyone up’ but instead maintain the peace over what I feel is something we can prevent in the future. 🙂*this is just me being silly.
