Repairing Candlelamps

I have a couple of candlelamps that I’d like to touch up. My Cat Wizard had a chip off the hem of his cloak when I bought won him on Ebay that I’ve repaired with Apoxy Sculpt,and one of my cats bit my griffin in the ear,leaving little white marks. (What is it with cats that they want to chew on your Windstones anyway?! 🙄 ) I’m a little at a loss as to what paint colors to use to match the stone-finish on these Windstones,so any advice would be very much appreciated 🙂

Apparently Critters find ’em tasty!! Luckily for me my cat’s too much of a spazz to try and taste, and the dog knows better!! 👿 It’s nice that whatever else she’s ever eaten/chewed on she never ate any of the “Knick Knacks”(This includes everything you’d put on the shelf from Porcelain dolls, to books, to Sculptures, and etc.)

Hello! I’ve touched up candlelamp parts myself, it’s not much trouble because you don’t have to work too hard to match the colors. You can use regular acrylic paint that comes as close to matching as you can. Melody was kind enough to send me the antiquing medium and sealant that Windstone uses to repair the eggshell of my Gargolingus. I’d never before used antiquing medium before myself, it looks a lot like varnish, but if you brush it on and then lightly swipe a paper towel over it, the medium will stay in the cracks and pits of the piece. The sealant they use is actually clear nail polish!

These are pretty easy to fix…just match up the tan color as close as you can manage, then antique with black and reseal. Ta da! I like the stone finish pieces for that reason, they are pretty easy to color match.

I wish my Castle of the Merry Ghost could have run away from my cat…They busted the tippy top spire off by chewing it…I repaired it and it looks like new now. 😀

Well,since my Windstones don’t seem inclined to run either,maybe I can politely ask the adult dragons to guard everyone else and puff smoke at the cats whenever they get the urge to take a nibble 🙂
