I’ve almost got Pegasil’s griffon completely repaired, only problem I am having now is that the tail section on the non display side is gone, and I want to get the fur swirls, etc as accurate as I can.
So for those out there with a griffon on hand, could you get a nice close up shot of the tail behind the left hand claw for me? Please?
Once I get that section rebuilt, he’ll be all done. He kinda looks funny right now, everything is repaired but for the tail section and you know by looking at how that tail section was broken that there should be more damage. But everything is restored including paint, so it looks a bit odd with that section broken.
I am now looking forward to seeing the no face dragon. He’s going to be a challenge. Though I will admit retexturing the feet on this bird was a pain in my tail.
Anyway, if anyone can help me out, I’d appreciate it.
Fully Repaired pics will be displayed tomorrow, once I have that tail done.

So I take it there were some pieces missing. 😕 Guess they got lost somewhere along the way to me. I went through the box piece of styrofoam by piece of styrofoam trying to get each and every one I could. Oh and it’s Pegasi not pegasil. Guess the 1 of 1978 blends in.

Yeah, pieces missing, but only two big chunks. I also looked at some front views, it looks like I need to rebuild some special feathers on the bit of tail in front of the left claw, and then the tail. But that shouldn’t be too difficult, just painstaking. Then repainting the fixed bits, sealer and back home to you.
Once I get started on a puzzle, and really repairing these guys is a lot like putting together a puzzle, I go pretty quick. Which is why turnaround time for me is usually about 2 days. I tend to work on the project until it is done.
Sorry about the name thing, the 1 does blend in a bit.

August 7, 2007 at 1:57 am #606507Have you found the pictures you needed for reference? I found the livejournal entry where Caisha posted pictures of her griffin with broken feet. They might be able to help you some.

August 7, 2007 at 2:14 am #606509😆 It’s okay. On the other sites I use the name they use a sans serif font so it’s a lot easier to tell. Since the Windstone site uses the serif font it makes it a little harder.

I’m not sure if that one will work, since she had to restore the same space, and I am not sure if hers matches the original cast design.
One of the angles Nam took of her griffons gives me a view of the area, so that might work, but a bigger up close view would be better.

August 7, 2007 at 2:26 am #606512Hopefully someone will be able to help you out with the photos. I tried looking through the pictures I’ve saved of Windstones on my computers but none of them are close ups on that area. And look there’s an offer from Frozen that I missed.
August 7, 2007 at 3:44 am #606513What’s the biggest image size your computer can handle? I’ve got my griffin ready for the camera.
August 7, 2007 at 3:55 am #606514I would imagine the larger the better and if you could provide shots from several different angles that would be an enormus help as well.

Well, the thing is, I take pictures at 3072 X 2048 pixels, and some computers die trying to load something that big. So knowing her bite limit helps. And yes, I got as many angles as I could focus on :3
Hey, wow, I never knew these guys had feathers in their tails! How oblivious of me *dumb*

An 800X600 should be fine. It need not be huge, just clear and of reasonable size.
Thank you so much.

August 7, 2007 at 8:50 pm #606517Well here we go, all fixed. Overall full pic of the griffon himself will be presented shortly, just need to let the Eye Protect dry so I can take it off first.
Sorry the pics are a little fuzzy, and of course black reflects light a bit as well. But this should give you a good idea how his feet look.
Sections completely rebuilt from scratch include, the ridges and part of the claw on his far left toe on the right foot, the feathers at the top of the left leg, the section of tail between the first and second toe of the left foot, including those little special feathers with the blue, purple and gold. The tail portion between the second and third toe on the left foot. And finally a section of the left foot itself from the top of the third toe going up about 1/2 inch and wrapping around the front of the leg a bit.
Overall I think he looks pretty good, and I am really pleased that even with close inspection the breaks are completely hidden, even knowing where they were, I can’t find them. I just love how he turned out.
Now I just need that poor defaced dragon to make his appearance. LOL!
I will box this guy up and find out how much his return shipping will be, then let you know Pegasi.
Hope you are happy with this repair.
Here he is full view.
What his feet looked like before.
