Great Costumes everyone! Purple your husband did a great job on the staff. Does he make and sell them? My father has a serious knee problem and his doctor told him to get a cane but he refuses to do so. I figure that if I get him a staff he would be more inclined towards using it.

I’ve never sold any but have been given offers on my personal staff even befroe it was finnished , it used to be the leaves and two frogs on top but one of the cats decided it looked good in pieces on the floor. I make most of them out of drift wood maple from the falls up near us . i use that because all the pourse on the wood are already open and it makes it much lighter to carry. carving it is tough seeing as how brittle the stuff is but once you get about 20 coats of polyurothaine on it its very strong . I have had a 400+ pound man lean on my staff and it held up with no cracking at all . All my wood is found not harvested , i have one found piece that is really odd with a hole in the top like a nest , its hard wood and not drift so its gonna be a tough one and its not very light.

I go to the MD ren fest too! I have one of those shoulder puppets but mine doesn’t have wings. I played a trick on the McDonalds drive thru window guy with it. I had it in my lap and when I pulled up to the window I made it turn its head towards him and he freaked out, lol. My husband is trying to make more staffs but the weather is too cold for him to carve them. He wants to make some to sell and some to give to friends. He keeps nagging me for staff ideas because he wants to make me one but I told him we can’t both carry staffs and push the baby at the same time.

Since you go to the MD renn fest…perhaps you and your man can help me convince my boring husband to dress up for this year. He never does no matter how hard I try to convince him…he makes fun of me. Grrr.

My most wanted list: carnelian mouse wizard, copper patina frog wizard, autumn leaf poads, pumpkin spice kitties

I love love LOVE going to the faire. The closest one to me is in August. It’s great!! One year we got lost on the way, me, my brother and 3 of our friends… and we got a flat tire. 🙁 it was a site to see my brother (who was in kilt), my friend who was dressed as a gypsy and another friend trying to change a tire. I was upset at the time, but it really was a funny site. All my friends have moved away and the faire is too far for me to go all by my lonesome. Mores the pity. I love all the pics by the way!!!

I attend the NYS Renaissance Faire (Sterling Forest at Tuxedo, NY – the one by NYC), the Sterling Renaissance Festival (Sterling, NY – the one up by Syracuse). Unless it starts coming back, I did go to the, short lived Vermont Ren Festival. I’ll likely end up going to King Richard’s Faire (Carver, MA) this year, since Angel Sword quit going to the NYS Ren Faire. That faire is sooo different than it used to be and many vendors have been chased away. It’s become VERY PC and disney-fied the last couple of years. Lots of managerial/management attitude issues going on there. I counted at least 8 vendors that I shopped at that left in the last 2 years or were pushed out. It’s very sad 🙁

                  Hmmm… I know I have a Ren garb picture somewhere…

I love celtic weekend at the ren fair. So many scotsman there its not even funny. Alot of them wear a kilt the way its ment to be worn and when a stiff breeze blows you get a show (oh no I did not just type that /runsaway)

My favorite weekend is pirate weekend. I love all the “drunken Pirates” that walk around. That and I think corsets are comfy! 😆
The music in both pirate weekend and celtic weekend is awesome. I could listen to it all day long.
