Thanks. Let me know when you are sending that repair over, I could use a distraction about now.

October 20, 2007 at 6:19 pm #627670Well we’re not going to be able to attend the funeral, which is kinda messed up, but the passes are going to be snowed in tonight, and my family both here and there feel it is not worth the risk trying to get through it to be there.
The important thing is we were there to see her before she died, so that will have to do. I am glad we at least managed that, I am so glad I went. I had a feeling that it was really really important that I go when I did. So I’m really happy I listened to that inner voice.
We sent flowers, since we weren’t able to do anything else. That will have to do. The arrangement we chose was really pretty, and I called the funeral home and made sure they would receive them and get them where they need to be on the day of the funeral, since we’re having them delivered the day before, I felt giving them a heads up was important.
It’s amazing how easy it is to get flowers just about anywhere for pretty inexpensive prices. I was surprised. I am still really sad, but kinda relieved that I don’t have to make that long drive. My brother and I have agreed to go and visit next spring together with our families, visit our uncles, aunts and cousins, and see the gravesite. Perhaps we can organize a family reunion with our father, I’ll have to see about that, we need to have another one, we haven’t had one in 13 years.
Anyway, since I can’t attend the funeral, I have to go back to work on Monday. They only pay if you actually attend and can prove it. Rotten, but that is the way it is.
So I’ll have to somehow muddle through this with very little time to myself to grieve. Typical of my life.
Anyway, thanks for all your support through this, this was my very last grandparent and she was my absolute favorite of the bunch, and it really seemed for the longest time she’d live forever. I am really going to miss her, but at least I have some great memories of the wonderful summers we shared while I was growing up.

October 20, 2007 at 6:48 pm #627671I’m sorry you have to go thru all this. At least when my grandma and mom passed away they did not question me about the 3 days I got off for each. It’s sad that there is so litle trust left in the world
October 20, 2007 at 6:53 pm #627672I’m sorry for your loss. I’m glad you got to visit before she passed, that is more important than the funeral I think. I missed both my Grand parents funerals but I had seen both within weeks before they passed. *hugs*
