Proof Read those addresses! Whether ordering from us or anyone else, make sure the right information can be put on the shipping label.
This time of year when holiday shopping begins I always see an increase in errors in shipping addresses. Sometimes auto-fill makes the error (it likes to put in OR for the state even if you are somewhere else) and sometimes auto-correct tries to be helpful and changes a word. Please remember to proof read what you typed in before you complete placing your order. Its also the time of year when UPS and the USPS are training new delivery people and they may not be able to help get a miss-addressed package to you.
If you notice an error after the order is placed, we can usually fix it! Email service@windstoneeditions.com with the correct information. Or call and leave a voice mail! When contacting us, its much easier if you refer to the number of the order involved. If you choose UPS shipping, a package can be re-directed for a fee. If you choose USPS shipping, nothing can be done to correct it after it starts traveling.
Other things to watch out for: We, and the shipping services, do not always know what local abbreviations for things mean, please spell out the long name of the street. If you put both a PO Box number and a street address, we do not know if you want the package sent to the PO Box or to the street address, or if its bound for a box in a mailing shop – Please let us know. UPS does not deliver to PO Box addresses, please choose USPS if you want delivery to a PO Box so that the shipping charge will calculate correctly.
Tracking information continues to be supplied like this: If you choose UPS shipping, the tracking number is emailed to you by UPS at the end of the day. If you choose USPS shipping (Ground Advantage or Priority Mail) and pay with Paypal funds, the tracking number is emailed to you by Paypal. If you choose USPS shipping (Ground Advantage or Priority Mail) and pay with a debit or credit card, we process the payment through paypal, however the tracking number is not automatically sent to you. We have no quick way to send those out, however if you request your tracking number in the Customer Notes (this field is on the shipping address screen, just below the shipping address fields) we will email you the number. You may also email service@windstoneeditions.com, referencing the Order Number, to request your tracking number.
If you sign up for the USPS “Informed Delivery” you may be notified of ALL packages coming your way via the postal service. I have not seen this in action however it may be helpful to try!
