It could have been much worse. I was rear ended three years ago by someone going 60+ and my car was totaled. I didn’t come out so good that time either :nea:
This is actually my daughters note. I copied it over as my typing sucks 😈We (Mom, Grandma, and Aunt Joyce) went to town to run errands and do some shopping this afternoon. We were almost home–and I had had put on my signal and was waiting to turn left down my road–when we heard loud screeching and tires squealing from behind us. It seemed like it lasted forever, but it was probably just a second. I stomped on the gas to try to pull forward, and then we heard and felt the impact.
Everybody’s OK. Mom’s back is sore, but the paramedics let her go home. She figures she’ll know more tomorrow morning (you know how you don’t feel anything ’til the next morning). I didn’t feel anything but surprise because it was so loud I thought it was worse than it was. Aunt Joyce didn’t feel anything, neither did I. Grandma was in the front with me, and mom was sitting in the back on the side that got hit…of course.
Someone in a truck pulled out and zoomed by us right after it happened, at first I thought it was the car that hit us, and I was about to get mad. haha But then we realized that another car was behind us and had gone off into the ditch. I made sure everyone was okay, and then Aunt Joyce and I walked back to make sure the people in the other car were okay too. That’s when we found out they had swerved into the ditch to try to avoid hitting us. It was foggy and had rained just enough to make the road slick. The trooper that showed up took all my info, and checked out the car. I will not be found at fault for the accident, and the other driver received a citation.
When we heard the screeching tires Grandma yelled, “Don’t you dare!”, Mom yelled, “Oh Crap!! Not again!”, and Aunt Joyce gasped and covered her eyes right before the accident. Mom and Grandma found out after we got home that they had said it out loud. And I found out that my Aunt was thinking “Pull forward. Pull forward!” so she has been teasing me that we have a psychic connection.=p
Everyone is okay, and the car is drivable. The dent just added a little character. Ha.
Thanks for the prayers!January 3, 2009 at 2:36 am #497417January 3, 2009 at 3:44 am #748659Oh I hope you are still feeling okay in the morning.

January 3, 2009 at 4:40 am #748662Yow! I’m so glad you’re all more or less okay, including the car. I really hope you weren’t badly injured, khat.
January 3, 2009 at 5:59 am #748663Glad no one was seriously hurt at least.
Pulling forward was probably what saved the car (my fiancee’s been rear ended a few times, you can’t see the damage to the back… just the stuff on the side that I did when trying to pull into a tight parking space…. I figured the mirror was clear so the rest of the car must be too. LOL)

I was rear ended as well! His Pathfinder was totaled. My car has a scratch on the bumper! LOL. It’s just a no-nothing Mercury. I guess they hold up pretty well!January 17, 2009 at 6:32 pm #748667We are OK Mom, sister and daughter came out fine. I have whiplash but it’s getting better. The insurance covered the repair…$5000.00 worth.
It didn’t look that bad. The light was broke and there was damage to the side panel, bumper and trunk so all the separate pieces plus repainting to match. All the rental place had left was a Dodge Ram 😀 I love trucks so that was OK too 8)January 17, 2009 at 10:20 pm #748668Glad everybody is OK
January 19, 2009 at 6:11 am #748669I’m glad the insurance is covering the damage. And yay for Dodge Rams. 😀
