I use the powders as a dry brush on.I love it.I brush it on the base coloring before it is “hard”dried and it goes on quite well.I hold it mostly by the horns when I use the powders.I apply a light spray of clear coat after every couple of colors or those that are blended so I won’t mess it up by touching it.It works well for me. Most of mine in the Gallery are done this way. 🙂
I use a very good make-up brush as my paint brush for the dry powders, perfect.I repeat,I use a make-up brush using the dry powders.Try it.It leaves no brush lines,it will lose hair so be careful unless it is a pricey one, when applying paint or the dry powders.I do not have an air compressor for my air brush but the powders go on just as smooth.I have been using four or five coats of the final spray for the deep look.I got a compliment when someone said I was copying their work when they are airbrushing and I used the powders and a toothpick to apply the star with but in no means painted the same. They said the coat was so smooth it wasn’t done with a brush.Thank you.It is actually a repaint job from Kalandra[sorry Kal] so that means she did an excellent job too,no brush strokes.Make-up brushes are the BEST paint brushes I have ever used. 🙂

Not to butt my nose in where it probably doesn’t belong, but I have noticed your work remarkably following the exact same patterns as a particular artist on the forum. Not only that, and I don’t mean to call you out but, you sort of contradicted yourself on your new auction with that Unicorn on your time line. You said in the auction you had it for a few months and then in the gallery you said it was painted in December. Not a big deal I guess and perhaps a simple slip of the tounge, but sort of an important detail if you are being accused of coping someone elses work. 😕 I also know you had asked that artist for advice on painting in the first place so it seems a little odd for you to be bringing that up and taking a stab at them like that. Just saying.

January 9, 2011 at 10:38 pm #832605Eh, I glossed over that part of Bodine’s post because I couldn’t quite understand what she was saying by the way it was worded – I’m tired and at work 😆 I don’t know what’s going on.. anyone have any coffee?

Dreamscape, Orion, Poison Dart, Fireberry, Spangler + Tigerberry DragonsJanuary 10, 2011 at 12:00 am #832608I just want to mention that when I saw Hubble my heart dropped because I have been working on a Keeper that has stars on it.. but I talked myself out of changing it – first because I knew that just the idea of a scheme including stars isn’t copyrighted, and secondly because I knew it was going to be quite different in the long run. I still worried that people may think I was copying her idea even though I had been working on it for a couple days before she posted, but you can’t just let a good idea go because someone else did something quite similar first! (also I’m positive that if I expressed these concerns to MG she would tell me to go for it)
I guess I’m rambling but my point isn’t directed at anyone in particular, I just wanted to say that I know how it feels to think that your scheme may be similar to someone else’s.. heck, I’ve seen some Windstone Ebay pieces go up that have the same color schemes as ones that I was currently working on! Nothing to do about it but to finish it with your own personal flair. If you know that you didn’t outright copy someone, (hopefully) that’s what matters. …. unless it’s infringing on Windstone’s trade dress! 😆
oh my gosh i need coffee…

Please visit My Webpage to see my art and PYO's that I've done in the past!January 10, 2011 at 12:53 am #832609I just tend to go by the good old fashion 3 strikes and your out sort of thing. I’m outspoken and have been here a long time, I just call it like I see it and this just happens to be the 3rd time I’ve seen it with the same person. Once is a coincidence, twice is suspicious, 3 times is a problem. Thankfully my paint style is so obnoxious people don’t often ask me how I apply my paint and what materials I use to make things look they way the look. *cough*
What’s the proverb? Be careful who you are stepping on, on the way up because when you fall, they will step just out of the way. I’m not here to take sides or point fingers… again, I just call it like I see it and when I think someone is sort of in the wrong, it gets me a little miffed when they take pokes at people they learned from in the first place. I know my two cents will (as usual) probably just get me into trouble and drama that’s not my problem, but I’m not one for being known for keeping my mouth shut for too long. Ask my manager at work! ROFL!
Also, there is nothing wrong with pulling inspiration from another artists work. Everyone does it, usually without even realizing it. Someday I intend on painting a space inspired theme, I’ve just never gotten around to it. Many art is inspired by space, it’s beautiful and mysterious. Every artist has a unique style and god given technique that is each, one of a kind. For the most part, these techniques change as the artist grows and learns new techniques as well. However, being inspired and having similar ideas is very different from nearly duplicating color placement and actual paint techniques to achieve something that is not your own idea. If you are an artist who has been taken advantage of in the past, you keep your guard up without realizing it and as a neutral party even I noticed a sudden shift in some painters who have come through here and I’m not the only one.
Yeral, for example, somebody might love your idea for having a space inspired rock for their Phoenix to sit on. Okay, that’s fine. Ideas are good! Sit and paint it. It’s not an unoriginal idea (and I don’t mean that to offend you at all) Just someone else might think of that, not even knowing you did it first. I bought one of your Cloud Phoenix (and I LUVS IT *hugs* 😆 ) but I’m not about to snatch it off my shelf and try and copy the way you layed your brush strokes because yours looks so amazing…. it is amazing by the way! 😀

Dreamscape, Orion, Poison Dart, Fireberry, Spangler + Tigerberry DragonsJanuary 10, 2011 at 3:24 pm #832615Please…just look in my Gallery here and in the Art section. My first air brush, couple yrs.ago.Space themed,my second Griffin,my first unicorn,
my latest unicorn,my first Phoenix.I am getting better.I will do a space themed dragon when I get a spare for myself.
Am I detecting a pattern?
I am trying different colors, styles and mediums which is my right.I am trying to find my niche, the style I do best.Noone has the right to say I or anyone cannot paint something that belongs to them, they paid for,in any style they wish, with the exceptions of copyrights and is noone elses business to make snide remarks about. All art is beauty.I,personally have always been fond of the space themes.So.I do not copy anyone’s work but I do draw inspiration from other’s work.Doesn’t everyone? As far as the name?Winter’s Eve and Autumn Harvest.I stole that idea?Well,Autumn Harvest is close to a copyrighted name and I don’t see them complaining.
Now,please leave me be about it.Every act matters. No matter how small💞
