Things I sell on eBay are things like clothes, shoes, Beanie Babies, etc. I rarely sell Windstones on eBay – only when something retires, and I happen to have it in stock. I will probably continue to do this, but I’m closing my store. The monthly fees are killing me, and I have too much stuff sitting around my house, waiting to be sold. I can’t stand the piles anymore. I want it gone!
I’m sorry to hear you’re closing your store. Now who will I order my Windstones from? (I know, I didn’t order much, there’s always too many LPs….)
Oh, no! You misunderstood. I’m closing my Ebay store. I’m still running my website and Emerald’s Emporium. I will still be selling Windstones. That hasn’t changed. I just won’t be selling clothes, etc. on Ebay any more. I’m done selling clothes on May 1st. I’ll be selling Windstones for as long as possible.
😆 I thought of that afterwards…. 💡 “Oh, I think she was talking about her ebay store….” 😆 I just never thought to edit the post. 😆
I just don’t want you or anyone else to get the wrong idea! 😀
February 15, 2008 at 4:14 pm #665847I only sell windstones every once in a while on E-bay, but I do a lot of selling of doll clothes through e-bay. i always prefer to sell on the forums I’m members of 1st because E-bay’s fees, combined with paypal’s fees take a nasty chunk out of my profits. The only benefit is that you get greater exposure on e-bay, the bids can sometime go higher, and you actually have some sort of recourse when a buyer flakes out. That said, their new rule changes and fee increases means I will not sell, and probably will not buy through E-bay anymore.

February 15, 2008 at 7:17 pm #665848I had thought about cleaning out my closets and try selling some stuff on ebay for some extra money, but after reading all this, it sounds like it’s not worth the effort.
February 16, 2008 at 12:46 am #665849I opened my eBay and Paypal accounts to be a buyer, and I wish I could afford to be still just a buyer. Unfortunately, my job has screwed me the past year or so, no luck finding another, and sometimes selling things there has made the difference. The fees are getting ridiculous when you consider how many people they’re getting them from, and, well, some of the new rules… having had a bad experience with a whackjob buyer, it’s my items that are driving buyers to eBay, shouldn’t I deserve equal rights/protection?
I also wish I could find an alternative, but the only one I ever found was yahoo auctions, and they shut down a long time ago.
As far as selling here versus there, I prefer dealing with people here (not just to avoid the fees either!), but I’ve gotten more money for the things I’ve sold on eBay. For example, I recently had a peacock lap I offered here first for a starting offer of $175 that had little interest, only an offer for a trade. I ended up needing the money, so I went to eBay with it and just sold it for $305. I think it depends on the timing, but you are reaching a broader market with eBay. People here are better to deal with (and no fees), but there will probably be less competition and a market that’s more broke buying LPs from the store! 😛February 16, 2008 at 8:02 am #665850I have noticed that if you put something up on here like a retired curlie, you will get an offer of $50-$60. If you put in on Ebay, that same curlie will go for over $100. Same with the little griffin chicks.
