Cane-work is actually using thin rails of zinc to separate each piece instead of copper foil and solder. The effect can be really well worth it, and it’s a reasonably common method, particularly in accent pieces in foyers and whatnot. But it doesn’t lend itself well to more of the sort of art I do, thus I don’t do cane-work often.
