August 5, 2007 at 3:13 am #605446GB…My Fledgie has blotches of the violet/purple color on his gold areas. Dave was utterly disappointed in the fact it wasn’t as neatly done as all the other painting on the older sculpts I have. I told him, that it didn’t matter and that I wasn’t gonna complain about it, but now I am sorta curious, how many went out with deffects? 😯
I understand that the demand has increased and that Melody and Co. are trying to keep up with it. Maybe we could sorta stop riding her about new new new things, and things like this wouldn’t be happening. 🙂 (Sorry if I offended anyone with that statement. 😳 )
Anyway, I am just happy to have gotten a VF Fledgie. And where he sits, I can’t see his “Birthmarks”. 😆August 5, 2007 at 12:30 pm #605447Thanks, WSC. But are the splotches on your fledge violet? Because on Wolfen’s, they’re an unmistakable royal blue.

the blotches on the one I got are blue….I wouldn’t say royal….but bright blue….
I checked both of the ones I picked up…and sent Star hers…I don’t think her’s had any blotches on it….
August 5, 2007 at 10:51 pm #605449hmmmm….I’ll have to check when it gets here. 😕

Okay. So some, not just one, of the fledges have sloppy antiquing. I’ll have to ask Mom how mine looks when it gets to Switzerland.

She got her VF fledge today, and hers looks like everybody else’s. Except that hers has several, at least half a dozen, spots of very sloppy blue antiquing. And it really shows. Do any other fledges have that? The blue is under the wongs, along the back, has a faint smudge down the chest… etc.Mine has some bright blue splotches on her back and behind. The antiquing on her chest is also very heavy. Actually, her antiquing is pretty heavy all over. I just figured that was the way she was supposed to look and you just couldn’t see it in the pics.
August 6, 2007 at 12:15 am #605452Wolfen got good pictures of the excessive blue on her fledge. Hopefully she’ll post them soon.

This is true. The factory has been getting calls and questions about things like this, these VF fledges in particular, so there was a lot of weight on to get them done. Windstone is always very careful to inspect their production line and only occasionally do defects get out, so the only thing I can think of was that they were desperately trying to get these done quickly to ‘appease the masses’ so to speak and a few goobered ones snuck out 😉 We’ll see what Melody says, and what the photos show.

My art: featherdust.comAugust 6, 2007 at 1:47 am #605454mine has some heavy antiquing and some smudges, but in places that would have been harder to wipe off cleanly. I’ll take photos too.
I do not think mine looks sloppy, he looks handled with love and care. What I do notice is that the lighter coloration is very contrasting against the antiquing and this may be making it a lot easier to notice the antiquing.on my peacock fledge it blends in pretty much.
August 6, 2007 at 2:33 am #605455Mine looks fine as well. I hadn’t actually taken time to examine every crevice on him yet but now that I have I really think he’s well done. It’s unfortunate that not everyone’s fledges came out consistent but the painters and workers who go out of their way to pamper us with new pieces are only human and mistakes happen sometimes. If it’s really badly flawed I’m pretty sure they’d exchange it for you and make sure you could get another as quickly as possible. Just a thought. 8) I know with all of us having been adding to our collections here lately they’ve probably been swamped to the extreme with trying to move the factory as well…
August 6, 2007 at 2:36 am #605456Oh, the purple spots are probably airbrush “burps”, mine does that sometimes when the paint is a little thicker or thinner and it spits out a nasty splat or even worse, a rain of polka dots…Some colors do that really badly, my metallic golds, reds and blues are all a pain for that… 😡
August 6, 2007 at 4:44 am #605457Just for the record.. I painted all the first batch of VF fledges myself. Because they are true test paints, some have slightly more or less of the violet, and blue antique on them.
The second batch was painted by Olympia, which means they will be much more consistant. She paints them all to match one paint sample, rather than painting each one individually, and she can paint about a million times better than I can. (Of course, most of you can!)August 6, 2007 at 4:51 am #605458I ended up with 3 in the end. I sold 2 of them and kept my favorite one. All of them had the blue splotches. 2 of them looked like the ones in koshiis top picture (with the peacock fledgie) and one oddball had alot less violet and reminded me more of just flame, rather then violet flame.
As for me, I kept the one with the least amount of blue spots on him ad I just cuddled him a few hours ago as a matter of fact. =)
