I know a lot of people here are huge PYO fans, but I am not really one of them. I can’t paint well, and don’t like to waste my money on a beautiful PYO that I will only make look like crud in the end! So just out of curiousity, I thought I would start this poll to find out the opinions of the rest of the forum.. Are you a huge PYO fan or no?

EDIT: If you like both, then it’s option 3. The “other” option I guess would be for people who want either no PYOs or all PYOs.. Or whatever.. *shrugs* All polls need an “other” 😀

I don’t mind either way. It does take less time for the PYOs to come out and they are cheaper. You can have someone paint it for you if you don’t like painting them. I will admit that when they first came out then I had a attitude that I wouldn’t buy a PYO from someone because I could just buy one and paint it, but that has changed now. There are so many people that paint them well, it is hard to tell myself no.

I love the PYOs! I love the production pieces! Am I other? (Hmm…. I guess we all love the production pieces, hence the forum following)
I think it’s great that Melody came out with the PYOs while continuing to create new production pieces. That’s really cool, when you think about it. I really enjoy the artistic outlet the PYOs provide for me and I love seeing what everyone else does with their own PYOs. So I guess I’m a fan of the PYOs both for me to paint and as potential purchases from other artists. 🙂

I like the PYOs, although I don’t always have time or inclination to paint. I like seeing what everyone else does with them, even if I am a little envious of their painting skills. Sometimes I even get a commission from somebody. 🙂 It’s fun to see what people come up with for me.

Right now I have three lovely wolves: one from Watergazer, one from Cheryl, and one from asinnamon.

Two sweet little Kirins: one from Watergazer and one I painted myself.

And a pretty griffin from PurpleCat that I got for a steal on eBay (sorry that didn’t make you more money, PC, but I’m still really glad I won it).

And one little green and purple dragon I’m slowly working on.

I’ll post pictures in the Show Your PYOs thread after this weekend is over. Too… much… to… think… about… now…

            I don’t have an answer for this…………

I love both of them greatly and equaly.

I have NEVER liked the PYO or the idea of them since I really can’t paint and do nto want to ruin artwork. But there are a number of people her that can paint and I think they should be allowed to do whatever they want to the pieces they get. So I’m middle of the road

I took the third option – like most people seem to have. There are enough beautiful production pieces out for now. PYOs are easier on the credit card.

              I picked “other”.
My personal size loves the production peices, although my favorite color they don’t make anymore(peacock).
Buisness and creative side loves the PYO’s. They are just small enough that they don’t take forever, and they help out when they sell, and they are cheap enough to make a couple bucks, which is a great perk since this is my only source of income 😀 (painting that is). But, unless it’s painted by someone else, I don’t keep any. I have two that I did that never sold, and one by someone else that I love.

                So which two didn’t sell?

ok, i was thinking a bit. PYO vs. Production.

I guess I don’t like the vs. part..like they are separated into two different categories and battling one another.

I thought maybe I would explain a bit of what it is like for me as an artist:

most people have no talent in art… I do have a talent in art..it is a love. There is this amazing feeling when creating something and watching it become something that was from my mind into something visible. I feel very satisfied when i finish and a great deal less stressed. I also great respect and admiration for other people who are artists and their expression of talent and understanding of art.
The windstones are an artistic expression from another fellow artist who shares the same talent I share, that is how I feel when i look at them. When I got my first and second windstone, I felt all over it to feel how the scales were sculpted, the smoothness of the paint, the cures of the legs, tail, how she made slight indents that showed muscle, the wings have tendons, and so on. I was thrilled to see a pieces of art and study it.

When the pyo’s came out…there was such a thrill I felt! when I got my first pyo, I did the same thing and felt all over it and studied it. There was a complete thrill in not only being able to admire this piece of art and talent…………..this time I get to add my own talent to it. Where I can’t sculpt my ideas very well..here is an artist that can sculpt so magnificently the things i love, and now I can take the colors in my head and see them on something 3d that I can hold and feel. I suppose this is something hard to understand for people who feel they have no artistic talent, it is hard to explain for me since there is a lot more to it and not the right words available to explain it fully. but I thought maybe I would try to explain it any ways…maybe it would help other understand why us artists are always squeeking and squeeking for more pyo’s to be produced.

To me, PYO or Production, they are both an artistic expression by an amazing artist.

As nice as PYO pieces can be, I prefer production sculpts…

                  #594882

I picked the first choice, just because I know in my bones that no matter how many PYO’s appear, there will still be plenty of new productions pieces that come out too. That way everybody’s happy, and I myself can get my Windstone fix through the smaller and cheaper PYO’s while saving for the bigger production pieces 😀

I prefer production peices. I like PYOs for a hobby, but I am with you… I would rather have nice looking stuff on my shelves. 😆

I don’t care either way. My goal is to paint at least one of each PYO (as long as I can get one with orange eyes 😀 Still waiting for the wolf and unicorn). The ones I really like, I can do more than one.

Productions pieces are just as important to me. Of course, some I will never buy because they don’t appeal to me as much, but other people will go nuts over them.

I guess I’m with Koishii on that one. They are 2 different categories altogether. It’s hard to have a favorite.
