I hear you there! I have 5-7 ideas all laid out! (Traditional, Final Fantasy styled, night phoenix, ice phoenix, one that is parrot/quetzal styled, and various pheasant/bird (Germain’s Peacock-pheasant (these look neat!), ring-necked, peacock, etc.). I love painting feathers! 🙂 (and these are the just the designs I want to do for myself! 😮 ).
As I wait, in the meantime, I have some turkey tail feathers I’m painting. 🙂 Working on a hippocampus and a fox. Hoping I’ll have them done this weekend.
August 27, 2010 at 4:42 pm #825149thank you for the pic! I was curious about the size relative to other pieces too.
I’m also lookin forward to painting one, later on when money isnt so tight. In the meantime it’s great to see everyone else’s color ideas!

I had the same idea of using pheasant/peacock-pheasant schemes. Hope I can get one next time.

I’m doing pheasant phoenixes too. 😀 I’ve got a peacock-pheasant started.
I was thinking of doing a quetzal too, given the body shape and tail style, but wasn’t sure if anyone would want a red-and-green bird to buy?

My art: featherdust.comAugust 28, 2010 at 4:03 pm #825152Heh, well, they do look like pheasants. 6.6 I’m curious to see how everyone interprets that on their phoenixes. I bought a book of pictures of pheasants a while back, and they’re pretty, but I’m more interested in painting some like kingfishers, myself. 😀 I’ve always liked them (fun to watch), and they do come in lots of different colors…I’ve got a griffin I’m painting like one (the “Common” variety) at the moment. I think the Oriental Dwarf kingfisher would look good as a phoenix. He’s very brightly colored. The tail would have to be invented, though! The real bird hasn’t got much of anything going in that department…
I had to look up a quetzal to see what they looked like…there’s a lot of people with tattoos of them out there. >.>; A mystery. It doesn’t tickle my ebay finger, but sometimes I’m surprised at what gets everyone else on here excited. I was kind of hoping you’d do a sun/moon pair (like the griffins). 😀
August 30, 2010 at 8:56 pm #825153🙂 I just received mine today. Wow that was fast concidering I’m in Canada.
I was surprised by the size of him. I love that size! Not to heavy like the griffin. (I know Jen it doesn’t beat the heaviness of painting a “Secret Keeper” now that would be painfull on the wrist and arm.) 🙄
Did any of you order with green eyes? Mine look more yellow. I compared it with my green eye griffin and yep looks yellow to me. 😕September 6, 2010 at 12:14 am #825154LOL! I’m in MA and I got it the same day you did.

I forget what else took that size… PYO unicorn? It’s a different color green but is much different than the yellow or straw eyes I have.

Susie did say they where a yellow green. Maybe I’ll change them to brown. Do you know where I could get dark brown eyes in the right size for the phoenix?September 13, 2010 at 9:39 pm #825158September 23, 2010 at 8:01 pm #825159Awww! I can’t wait to get my hands on it! I love the ones I have seen so far! I still have to get my hands on a keeper and a wolf. I haven’t done those yet!

There are 2 wolves in the store if you need something to tide you over. 🙂
September 30, 2010 at 6:06 pm #825161PYO Phoenixs have not hatched yet. It will be at least a couple of weeks or more before we have them – I really have no idea when they’ll be ready. Sorry about the delay! The incubation period is longer than we realized.
